Tomorrow, who knows, probably your kids are too since they live with a terrorist. Unless, of course, they are convinced to turn you in.

Picking my 17 year old "Proud Infidel" Son up tomorrow for Christmas break....He has explicit instructions, about several things, and  knowing when to Initiate Plan B if something happens to me.

and yes he knows every inch, inside and out, of that Garand, and how to shoot it.. ;) Although, he prefers my Sig 556.... 8)

Kids.... :P

That's a great picture but a poor example of "Port Arms"!

 ;D

p.s.  I had to hump an M1 for 10 weeks in Boot and we weren't even a rifle company!  They were non-functional and had fully leaded barrels.  Not exactly fun in the Orlando sun even in September, October...

My Grandfather's original Bluejackets Manual has a whole chapter dedicated, and I  will "remind" him of this.. ;)

And we had this DI Chief, a 5'4" peckerwood  that carried one of this swizzle stick horse wacker things and would smack you on the fingers if they weren't in the correct position for each presentation!  He actually broke a guys thumb one afternoon.  We didn't see him much after that.

Darn thing weighed about 18 lbs.  The rifle companies, the ones that train for exhibition, use a different rifle that's a bit lighter than a stock M1 but when they affix bayonets, things get serious!

Went through basic with an M14....   Interesting that the Navy trains their personnel with small arms that don't work.

What's even more interesting is that you probably went to basic in the 60's and used a more modern rifle than I did!

We never had to shoot more than a bolt action 22 lr.  Had to know the 1911 inside out and backwards in the dark but we never were issued one.

My last doodie station in CA in the late 70's, we had to do a perimeter walk at night when we got stuck with sentry duty.  We had no Marines to guard the base.  They'd give us a 1911 with an empty magazine and an 870 riot gun with no shells.  I found out why about two years ago.  When they were building the secret base, one of the sentries guarding the front gate back in '57, an E2 or E3 carrying his personal sidearm, had identified the farmers prize bull as an invading Army and shot it deader than sh!t one night!

No surprise there, when the Navy actually WANTS people shot and stuff wrecked,
They call the Marines, that's our job description  ;D

Every now and then I will click on some youtube link for something entirely legit.  And off to the right of the screen there will be a shadey video or two.  I will click on that out of morbid curiosity.  Then I realize I am in that part of the internet.
 :o

Whoops!!

"How did I get here?"

I would like to find or get GPS coordinates just once for one of these alleged FEMA camps.

... Who cares if he said "FEMA" or not ...

I asked about the FEMA reference because the topic's title included the acronym FEMA.  Tom's explanation was helpful.  Yours... not so much.
