If it is happening, it is far from being caused by humans.

Found a graph of temperatures for the past 1000 years or so...

The graph Big Al used was part of it.   His was the part where the graph started moving up after bottoming out during what has been termed the Mini-Ice Age.

The portion of the graph preceding his his showed the temps falling from a high back in the 1200 area...not sure exactly... and if was falling from a temperature high than the projected high temps for the next 400 or so years.

Don't know how they did it, but those folks back in 1200 or so got there emissions under control and cooled thing down for the next 700 years.

Every time the global warming and climate change debates, or better known as GOP bashing parties, come around I refer to the Field Museum in Chicago and a couple of public university museums I have been to:

According to their research we are in the world's third ice age, and we have been coming out of it for several thousand years already.  Each ice age has been less cold and shorter in duration.  I never deny that humans may be adding to it, but the scientific community's own specialists that have followed this point out that it is a natural cycle, and this warming trend started before mankind was a contributing factor (before mankind if you believe in God and creation - young earth).

GW was summed up for me by 2 articles I saw in one copy of Popular Science back around 02.
The first article told how the far North was being destroyed even glacier X in Greenland had receded 7 miles in an unprecedented melting.
The second article was about a bonanza of Viking relics found at a new site uncovered by glacial retreat.
It was the same glacier.

Here's something else to consider, The first ones to track and record world wide weather conditions were the British Admiralty.
They have been doing it for less than 250 years.
Any graph that tracks earlier than that is useless since scientists make their judgements based on the chemical break down of Ice samples.
Great, hi tech, but BS, since we do not have a record of potential variables such as volcanoes and other events that could skew the readings.
So basicly they are trying to predict multi thousand year cycles based on 250 years worth of varifiable data.

Whenever I point out the 400 year old silver (or copper, I forget) mine rediscovered in northern Europe, complete with hand tools left in place, the place that has just appeared from beneath the melting glacier, the ranter just glazes over and "yeah, well, (obfuscate...)". Kinda reminds me of a certain segment of the current political debate...
Whatever.. Hug a tree.. Dance around a fire and do peyote.. Just leave me alone about it... I'm tired of arguing with a fence post.

I read on some other forum that in Siberia, I think it was, that there is methane trapped under the glaciers or the ice.

As the ice melts away, more methane gets released into the atmosphere to act as green house gases.

Anywhooo....to think that it is anthrogenic....errr ...people caused global warming....it is well...just a ruse.  it is a way to take from the haves of the world and give it to the have nots.  wealth redistribution (aka "socialism") on a global scale.
