Oh the humility of being a Newb! JK. I've been involved with some sort of shooting off and on since I was 10(?). Dad shot on the US Army Reserve A1(?) Team for a year when I was a kid, he had some cool shooting buddies, still remember my first time out with them listening to "Mrs. Robinson" on my new Walkman knock-off tape player.
I joined the Army for college money and hopes of becoming a combat diver (00B), but God had other plans. Went to trade school for machining and haven't looked back.
After 15 years of machining and a couple of years of college an opportunity has presented itself to move up the chain into a Manuf. Engineer. I want to do some pistol smithing on the side, to make up for the whole salary thing and beacuse I love machining and handfinishing, and that stirred the gun beast within me, much to my wife's dismany (not about guns, more about time). I am thinking of the 1911 Custom course at Cylinder and Slide for starters (don't tell my wife), and then some of the armor schools over then next couple of years depending on the demand.
Have a good one.
