It has been pointed out that I "forgot" to introduce myself.

Oops!
My name is Scott and I live in Southern NH. I'm not from there originally. I come from a military family and have lived everywhere Navy from Adak to the PI to Eglin. I'm a professional instructor training PSD personnel for those who actually need a PSD. In other words, no celebrity or status symbol details. I began the work while I was in the Navy and continued on in the private sector for over 20 years before transitioning to teaching.
If you have read many of my posts you'll realize that I tend to have very strong opinions. You'll also notice that RJP and I tend to disagree on most things. Let me make this part clear; I absolutely respect him as an industry professional. We just disagree on some things and that is OK. Properly applied conflict initiates thought, development and growth. Although I suspect RJP thinks I'm a bit harsh at times.
I own more firearms than I can recall for professional reasons. I find that using and, demonstrating with, what the students have in their hands to be very beneficial. I strongly believe that, as an instructor, one must be able to successfully do whatever is being asked of the students. The people I work with would see it as a weakness and I would lose credibility if I did less than what I demanded from them. Besides, the mechanics of shooting don't really care what make, model or caliber is in your hands. As long as it fits properly you are GTG.
I just switched from carrying a Nighthawk Talon to a G21 with a grip modification. I prefer the .45 only because of conveneince. It's what I have the most of. Otherwise I don't really give a lot of thought to caliber as long as it is 9mm or larger. Shot placement matters. I always carry a bug because mechanical devices are prone to fail. I also carry 2 knives, 2 flashlights and a small first aid kit. It's not paranoid, it's prepared.
Thanks,
