A Modest Proposal

In recent light of the killing of American soldiers over the mistaken burning of the Koran, I have a suggestion.  First, we immediately replace all non-muslim troops, ie Christians, with muslim troops.  When we engage in conflict with muslim nations, a draft will be instituted and all muslim males between the ages of 18 and 40 will be drafted to serve in the conflict.  The obvious advantages would be that 1.) They would for the most part understand the language, 2.) They would understand the religious customs, 3.) Some of the combatants might actually be family or trible relations and 4.) The draftees would an investment in sweat equity and service in correcting deficiencies in their former homeland.  This would be a "Win - Win" for everyone.  Who better than a former immigrant of the Middle East could explain the advantages of Life , Liberty and the Pursuit of Hapiness to his former countrymen?

We as Americans just don't have an understanding of what we are dealing with.  In our culture, our Lord's name is taking in vain for very simple things like hitting your own thumb with a hammer. Your Christian neighbor upon hearing this doesn't come over and shoot you or stone you.  I am not saying that taking God's name in anger is acceptable because it's not.  Nor do we seek out the person who happened to throw their Bible in the bin at the recycling center and do bodily harm to them. 

Oh by the way, don't expect any apology from the Afghans. I don't believe the word sorry is in their vocabulary or culture.  One would expect you would hear some outrage from at least some "moderate muslims" in this country, but again, don't hold your breath.

As a P.S. I would add that there are many Muslim-Americans serving in our Armed Forces.  I thank them for their service and sacrifice. No disrespect was intended.  It's just a very frustrating situation and difficult to comprehend the actions of others.

From what I've read, The inmates were writing messages in the Koran, (which is forbidden under Islamic law),....whether it was "accidental" or not that they were burned, doesn't matter.

They are savages, they never had anything resembling Democracy, and they don't want it...They have never known it. All they have known is violence, death, and consequences if you screw up.

They can too easily be "whipped up" to violence by motivated Taliban/Al-Quaeda folks promoting the evil Infidels...

Time to pack up leave, and have as many B-52's start at one end of the country, and hold the bomb bay doors open until the other end.

Moreover, we have an apologizer in chief, they see this as weakness,,,,and as a country with a weak leader, Iran also can give us the one finger salute and get away with it.

Your concept sounds good, however, I don't know the practicality of it,...that's what were training the Afghan Troops for.

Like so many cults, Islam is an "end justifies the means" religion.   Yes you shouldn't desecrate the Koran, but it's okay if you're furthering the cause of of Islam.  No you shouldn't kill innocents, but it's okay if you're furthering the cause of Islam.

We should have just bombed them until there were none left to train. THAT is how you win.
