Well, if an investigation is underway to verify the facts, that is what they should do...she is out of the classroom but until the evidence is officially reviewed, she doesn't lose pay.

But I  have seen similar as a disciplinary action for misconduct.

In Cincinnati a few years ago a couple of water works employees were found ot have "lost" some cash or equipment or both.  It seems the stuff was in their care and came up missing.  They said it was gone after they were away from it.  There was no proof found that th ey had stolen it so they were disciplined for losing city property, not theft. 

Their punishment was a 6mo. suspension WITH PAY!!...since it was their first offense.   

I had to wonder what the second offense would bring.   12 months with pay or 6 months at time and a half.  Sigh.
