So what's it going to be?   The guys have a point about the "look alike" rimfires.  Several guys I train with have gone with the S&W AR in .22 LR...that H&K is cool, but the S&W matches AR controls with the exception of being able to put a swivel on the buffer tube for a one point sling.  One of my sons has the MP-5 lookalike in .22 LR and it does a great job...even though it's scaled down.

I have the CMMG insert for my AR to save a few bucks....but it makes an AR run really, really, dirty, especially with the can.  A dedicated 22 LR with controls in the proper place is a better deal.

for you using ARs with insert ..., from another forum, a couple of ideas

accuracy... measure the throat of your insert...others have found that theirs narrows to .221" or so and would dramatically swage down the bullet

consistency... there is an insert made that applies pressure from the recoil spring/buffer to the insert so the insert is always pushed forward, they claim that it reduces misfires... has a convex nose, so you can close the receivers...I machined a piece out of delrin but haven't had a chance to try it yet

I built a dedicated upper using the CMMG barrel and adapter feed ramp...I like it more every time I use it

I haven't had any issues with mine.  Maybe I have a good one.  It feeds great and is as accurate as the EOTech allows to 100 yards.
