Florida Gov. Rick Scott hit the cable circuit on Tuesday morning to defend his state's efforts to prevent illegal immigrants from voting, amid news that the Justice Department will challenge his plan in court.

"I have an obligation to enforce the laws of our land. You don't get to vote in Florida if you're a non-U.S. citizen," the Republican governor said on CNN's "Starting Point."

Scott, who also appeared on "Fox and Friends," hit back at accusations that his plan is politically motivated and an attempt to suppress legal votes. The Florida Department of State compares names on the state's voter rolls with data about citizenship status to identify noncitizens, and it removes them if they do not prove their legality. "This is not a partisan issue, this is Republican, Democrat, independent, this is protecting the rights of U.S. citizens and not diluting their vote by non-U.S. citizens," said Scott.

The Justice Department announced plans Monday to take legal action against Florida for appearing to violate the Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act with its voter purge. The American Civil Liberties Union has also filed a lawsuit to stop Florida's voter purge.

"Because the State has indicated its unwillingness to comply with these requirements, I have authorized the initiation of an enforcement action against Florida in federal court," Thomas Perez, assistant attorney general, wrote in a letter Monday to Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner.

The Justice Department's action was a direct response to Detzner's announcement earlier Monday that Florida would sue the Department of Homeland Security to gain access to the federal citizenship database (SAVE) to help carry out its voter purge. Scott said Monday that Florida has found nearly 100 noncitizens on state voter rolls.

As Yahoo News has reported, partisan battles over voter ID laws are being waged across the country this election year.

Voting rights advocates argue that the recent uptick in voter ID laws is due not to an increase in voter fraud, but to political agendas. The Brennan Center for Justice estimated last October that over 5 million voters could be disenfranchised in 2012 due to stricter voting rights legislation, prior to the passage of voter ID laws in several additional states. Cases of identified fraud overall have been much lower than potential cases of voter disenfranchisement.

Problem is two fold.   Jim Crow laws are typically defined as segregationist laws enacted between the end of the civil war and 1965.  Wallace didn't become governor (first time) until 1963, so you can hardly place blame for JC laws on him.

Even when it is passed as "crime control it is anti black since they commit the majority of violent crimes.

Moveon.org gets the majority of their money from Soros or his fronts and like most Dems very little they say is true.
If they are against something it must be worthy of my full support.

Most education professionals belong to Unions.
The Dems own the Unions, especially the teachers unions.
Therefore most teachers are nothing but propagandists for the Dems and the UN and have been for at least 45 years.
Remember "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" ?
In elementary school we got the little orange box just before Halloween, we were supposed to reject the candy and get donations for the UN.
I used to throw it away and enjoy the candy, except the darned candy corn, that was always hard as a rock.

I've been having an email discussion with my HS Government teacher!  A man I've known as a dedicated teacher since the 6th grade, about forty two or three years.  It's refreshing to know that he's not changed much in those years though he no longer teaches government or any of the multitude of social studies he taught during my years.  He's married to GR Fords niece and never shied away from his politics but he changed direction and went into psychology since I last saw him.  I sent him the speech from the Welleslly High commencement.  I've yet to get a reply.

Not all teachers are full of shit but I'd bet a good majority of them in the Northeast are lost!

Actually, no.  "Move On Dot Org" (California registered non-profit) may very well act in concert with Saros, but they are owned (were founded) by two of the 1%'ers.  Fairly well off software developers.   They try very hard to keep their "books" clean and only accept donations from the 99%.   That way they can take the "high road" and disavow any connection with Saros, et. al.   This was a big problem with socialism.  For many decades it was only supported by the intelligentsia, though it was suppose to be a spontaneous response by the working class to capitalism.   MoveOn provides the missing "common man" element of socialism.

However, MoveOn.org (the civic action one) transfers most of their money to a a sister organization, MoveOn.org Political Action (or PAC) which does direct contributions to candidates campaigns.

I just started a book "Lies My Teacher Told Me" that chronicles US history and how ALL textbooks minimize, or outright change the actual story to make it more "palatable" and all it does is make it unreadable.  Then the teachers are told not to expand outside the textbook since it won't be on teh standardized test.  The teachers then get lazy and don't research the subject, so if a student asks a question that isn't readily available in the text they don't know the answer.  Since, God forbid, a teacher actually TEACH, and a student do a little of thier own WORK, both don't learn anything and the next generation gets that much dumber.

My daughter's AP US History class last year SKIPPED WW2 and went on to the 60's (glossing over Vietnam also) since "they were behind schedule" (and I'd bet the teacher didn't want to expose how much he DIDN'T know).  This is the "best paid teacher" in the HS since he teaches AP classes and has the most degrees, but doesn't actually teach, just show Power Points with the notes on them and movies.
