I'm pretty sure that everyone who visits this forum on a regular basis feels the same way about their rights and ANY attempt to abridge those rights.  So let's put that issue aside first... I don't want my rights, your rights, or anyone's rights violated or abused.  Secondly, while I've never worked as a correctional officer, I spent several years as a contract educator inside a federal correctional facility.  I've seen first-hand the type of senseless brutality and horrifying savagery that these officers face each day.  It takes a special kind of courage to "walk the yard" unarmed and outnumbered... I appreciate the job they do and I'm thankful that there are men and women willing to do it.

The last distinction I want to make is that the SCOTUS ruling has to do with "detainees" - these are folks who have ALREADY BEEN ARRESTED for violating the law and are being processed for admission to the correctional facility.  This isn't about police stops on the street.

And reason #42 why you will never get my vote for much of anything. You have become way too complacent with the high crimes and misdemeanors committed by all levels of .gov these days, all in the names of safety/security/children/policy/reason du jeur.

No, Tom, I highlighted the pertinent part. Nothing else you said in that original post mattered much, just what I highlighted.

And BTW, that "context...advance an agenda...honestly discuss" crap may work on the newbies here, Tom, but not me. I've raked you before for things like your willingness to suspend the Constitution and (contrarily) your other willingness to go along with .gov actions for whatever reason. Nice red herring you tossed out there, but FAIL!

I have to disagree here Path.
If Aunt Sally is going into the jail, even the drunk tank, it is the same thing.
I don't really see a problem with it as a standard part of booking .

Pathfinder, I was trying to say nicely that by highlighting only HALF of what I said you become a liar, just like MSMBC.

Since the subject here is opinions on the OP I posted mine calmly without attacking any one else.
Your opinion of what I posted is irrelevant since there are no grounds for arguing over opinion.
Your need to personally attack me for expressing it  is sad to say the least and brings into question just how sincere you are about your "alleged" love of personal freedom.

As for your other comments I will say that whether you approve of my ideas or not they are constructive suggestions.
They present  solutions to problems you like to complain about.
You seem to be quite adept at finding fault with other peoples solutions, but you have yet to present one of your own.
Instead of bad mouthing other peoples thoughts and ideas and trying to spread discord that has previously been confined to one thread why don't you present some of your own ?
