There seems to be agreement. Now if only we could find out who he is and let him know as a group of 2A believers we think he's a smacked ass, and that maybe he should just try to get on Jerry Springer if he wants to be famous.

Guys like that is exactly why CA lost open carry.  It is also why I am against OC, too many jack asses out there.

No TAB, the reason you lost OC was because the majority of Ca voters are gullible and to lazy to check facts.
The same reason you wound up with Moon beam Brown for your Gov.
Again.
The problem in Ca. was not people exercising their rights.
It was the largely liberal  population having a tizzy over it.
If they were not deluded dems told for 50 years that items made of metal and plastic are evil and cause crime they would have a healthier attitude toward the God given, (but Ca removed) Rights of their fellow citizens.

I signed up for the site and will post my comment when I get the confirmation e mail..

Cultural and regional society "norms" also come into account. In rural NC, the smaller towns acceptance of open carry is not a big deal with no 911 calls and is not an issue.

In the urban cities, Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, where the transplants have migrated, you get the 911 calls, the "man with a gun" calls,....etc,...

I'm sure this is the same in rural TX, the Dakota's, and other states with open carry. The culture of the folks in small towns/cities get it...The larger metropolis areas like this guy in Portland will always get you a "visit" by the po-po...

Here's the question:

In states where OC is permitted, is it the public that needs an education on the law, or a citizens right to do what this guy in the vid did, albeit somewhat badly?

The nanny state folks will always be there, but if they realize and understand you reside in an OC state get the (insert expletive) over it,...

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

The population needs to be educated both, to the fact that OC is perfectly legal, and the fact that a law abiding citizen engaging in OC is no big deal.

I believe this was Portland "Maine". It seems the new Governor has done some work with the Portland PD here. Chitwood had that PD so wound up over civilian firearms possession that I had problems there..
I think the guy filming, like alot of the OC guys, was trying to make a point, and being a bit of a pin head about it. I'm glad it went the way it did.
Portland has come A LONG WAY in the right direction!!! I bet that head nurse at the nursing home that kicked me out from my wifes death bed thinks of me more often now..

The license plates on passing cars did look like Maine.
I will second what Santahog said about Portland and its former Police Chief.
Portland under Chitwood might as well have been in Ca.
In his defense however Micheal Chitwood needed an issue to distract people from the fact that as a Philly detective he was the cop who allowed the "Unicorn Killer" Ira Eikhorn, to flee to Europe.  (sarcasm)
That, and the fact that besides being a lousy cop he was also a camera whore and "guns" was a good way to get on TV.

There are several states with a town or city named Portland.

Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas.

That was my first thought as well when I read Santahogs post.
My first thought was that it was Oregon so I went back and looked for some kind of identification.
The best I could spot was that while they are not very clear the plates on the cars look like Maine.
