Value of a Kimber Tactical Pro II ?
« on: August 19, 2012, 12:38:00 AM »
It has been carried alot. It's not quite four years old with about 3500 rounds through it.
Got some scratches.. Bull barrel with the ramp integral to the frame. Night sights..
(No pics yet..)
I want $750 for it. Just wondering what the book value is on it..
Thanks..

Probably can't put a value on something these days.  It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it....not necessarily what you want out of it.

Fair enough. I'll know more this week.
I left it at the range/gunsmith Saturday. He gets traffic through there during the week, with all the Kimber guys having an opportunity to have a look.
I've got a call in to my buddy in ME where I bought it to see what he thinks about it.
My question is more what I'll get into with the money that comes out of it...
AK? G-17? 1911? Couple of pump guns?
Portable? Home Defense?
Cheaper to feed would be kinda nice...

Out of those that you listed I'd get the AK, been kinda looking for one but not too serious until I get an AR.

Where is the hole in your collection?
I don't have at least one in quite every room.. (Primarily because the only ones I'd be comfortable hanging next to the shower are in other places I'd rather have them..)
I don't know.. That's not quite like asking if I have enough..
Cheap(er) to shoot = a G-17 or an AK. A short pump is never a bad thing to have. One of each would be my first choice.
I'm still having a hard time remembering that I don't have the wiggle room to play around with wants or things that I sold over the years.. For example, I want that Bersa Commander because the Firestorm 1911 I sold a few years ago was one of only a few 1911s I've had that NEVER had one issue.. That's why I like the Glock so much. They go bang. they're accurate, etc..
Same. again with the AK. Cheap to shoot (till Russian imports get cut off). Go bang every time. Accurate enough at 100 yards. I've got a Saiga that I can make a 20 oz bottle dance at 100 yards with. That's enough for me..
The Saiga runs more than twice what I paid for mine, just 4 or 5 years ago. I gave $300 for mine and that was up some from what it had been just a year prior to that. An AR, to me, is a double premium in price. It's "cool" and the market is in a panic anyway.. And I wouldn't have one without a piston in it. A 308 in an AR platform has the power to do what would need done, but at $ x4 to the AK round. Why even go there?
I know it sounds like blasphemy, but maybe a 1911 is beyond my reach in my current economic situation.. I don't know..
Maybe reading this helped me narrow it down to a G-17 or an AK..
Maybe the answer to your question is "I don't know?.. I don't know.. I've got a few places for one to live.."

I have never owned a 9mm because I can carry a bigger gun and like the idea of the largest projectile I can send the bad guys way.  BUT this morning after I left with my daughter to work and her first morning of 2-a-days for soccer my wife said she heard a tap-tap-tap on the window over the couch, twice!  Shotty is in the bedroom, HK 91 too, XDM is with me and the dog just looks at the window. :o  I've tried to talk to her about carrying a gun, she doesn't like the idea of me carrying one (for many reasons along the line that it requires her to think of what she should do and she'd rather not  ::) ), and I think the point may have been emphasized a bit this morning.  My dad is thinking about "loaning" me his G36 for my daughter to shoot in USPSA, I know a sub-compact but anyway, I think this would serve double duty as a "round the house gun for my wife and give her a reason to shoot with me during the week at practice (twice a week is the plan at least, now that school is done  ;) ).

So for many of the same reasons I think a Glock is the choice for my next gun and the price is right  ;D

Anything short of assault that will get a gun in her hand and her head in the game is not a bad thing..
It's a hard, long slog, in my experience.. Avoidance is a rubber monster... NO matter what you do to it, it flips out of the way and goes right back to where it was.. And it's as tough as a tire, too..
I feel for ya brother... I really do..
Hey, have you tried to introduce her to Chris Bird or Kathy Jackson? Those two helped me knock down more walls than I could ever have alone.. They plant good seeds!!!
Birds book is on maybe it's 5th edition now?.. Kathy Jackson is in a few places but http://www.corneredcat.com/Contents/ is a good place for her to start, and after that, Jackson has put out several books, but her most recent one or two are her best, imo..
Good luck.. If you haven't dug around for the Girl/Gun resources yourself, let me know. I've already plowed that field.. I'll sure try to help if I can..
I'm really absent minded so if you want that kind of thing, PM me so I won't have to explain why I didn't look back here and see your reply here... As forgetful as I am, I should be blonde..

I haven't tried that route yet, but I think that may a good course of action.  I'd love to see the results of your plowing  ;D
