New family member
« on: September 02, 2012, 08:18:19 PM »
My cousin and Goddaughter just gave birth to a baby girl (it is labor day after all ;D). The kid is called Harper Grace, which I think is about the coolest name ever, and you couldn't get more Southern if you tried. ;) However, since her mom is diabetic and Harper was a bit premature, there are some issues. I'll probably be going up there to NC. Prayers are appreciated, but on the whole its very happy news.

Her mom's favorite book was "To Kill a Mockingbird". Its a wonder that the kid wasn't named "Scout".
God bless the South. 8)

PS The kid is definitely going to have Clint Eastwood levels of cool points if she pulls the name off. I mean, her mom is a knockout (something which worried us all when she was in high school and college). If Harper inherits her mother's looks, imagine a a 5' 8" busty brunette saying "My name is Harper Grace and I'm going to kick your ass". Her high school won't know what hit it. ;D

PPS Is it too early to start shopping for her first Glock or AR? Maybe something in purple? ;)

Congrats on the good news, Quaker.  And it's good to see you back on the board.

Too soon for a Glock or an AR?

I think not.  I got my two grandsons each a .22 while they were still in utero.

Since Harper has made it to the "outside" I think you may already be a little late. LOL

Invest in something for her now. I'd say a 10/22 & a 22/45

I'm thinking of giving her my old (and only) 10/22. It was the first gun I ever bought, with my lawn mowing money when I was 10. I gave her mom's sister's kid my old butter knife bolt action Remington Nylon 66 mauser .22 that my granddad taught us all  to shoot with. I figure the little girl deserves as good, plus it will give me an excuse to buy a new 10/22 or maybe a Marlin or Savage to plink with. Honestly, I'm just not so sure how pro-gun Harper's dad is, he's kind of anti, and her mom doresn't really care, though she learned to shoot as a child. So I'll hold off till the kid gets older and I can take her to the range. I fully intend to corrupt her. ;D

PS Does the NRA life member leather jacket come in baby sizes?

Take the father to the range now, you got to straighten that boy out.

Can I get him to hold the target? Oops, did I just say that? ;D
