AR-15 Armory, a great site
« on: September 12, 2012, 06:00:10 AM »
Well.
I talked about getting new members. I talked us up on a great site, AR-15 Armory, I discovered last year. I would highly recommend it. It has everything from black rifle techno-babble to recipes, sports, and just folks shooting the shat. I encouraged them to take a look at our little dysfunctional family and would encourage you to do the same. This isn't about competition. Its about strength in numbers. These are some very pro-2A folks, and good people. Welcome them on board. They are mostly into the black rifles (and, really, who isn't?), but they will also tell you how to brew beer, make a lobster bisque, work on a Harley, or properly hang a deer stand. In short, our kind of folks. Please visit them and encourage them to do the same. Important safety tip: the rules of etiquette are a lot stronger over there. What we would consider good clean fun would probably rise to the level of a deadly insult over there, so play nice when you are on their board. Beyond that, I think we can get some new recruits. These really are good folks.

PS I typed in AR 15 forum. It was a brain fart as I go their forum section, just like here. The Site is AR-15 Armory.com.

So it's not AR15.com?  Different forum.

Good.  Too many mall ninjas, know-it-alls and douche bags on AR15.com.  Can't dis-recommend it enough.  Of course this is the part where I have to say YMMV.  Satisfied?  Good.

FQ turned me on to it last week for a deal on some AR mags and I have looked around a little, pretty cool so far.  I ran across a thread where a kid is documenting his build of a '73 Challenger, on a gun site  8)

Did you buy any? Nwatson owns the site and is trust worthy. And hell, at $55 for 10 used GI mags you can't go wrong.

I need to get a Money Order and my buddy's address.  The Mrs.  wouldn't understand why I am buying magazines for a gun I don't own (yet  ;D ) but at $75 for 10 new GI mags... duh!

I looked around and it appears the forums are moderated which I think are a necessary evil. Just signed up and thanks for the recommendation, Quaker.

I sent out the MO yesterday with some "special" shipping instructions  ;)  I am a registered member but I can't use the Search function until I have more posts so I can't find the thread to post  ???

Help a brother out FQ and post another link to that thread.

Thanks,
Bryan

No problem. They are a little anal as they've been burned by trolls and scam artists. Personally I find it a bit tiresome, but their playground, their rules. My advice is to to do what I did. Post some recipies, post BS sports nonsense, post a hunting/fishing/camping story, ask about someone's gun buy, or sale. Just get to the magic number and you're in (I think its 30, though I wouldn't swear to it). They are a good group, they've just circled the wagons a bit. As an example I bought my eotech from a member when I was fairly newr. He mailed the sight before I even mailed the check, and he didn't know me from Adam. They just want that level of trust on their board. We have it here from personal interaction, I know who I would do that kind of deal with. There, they want numbers of posts to show commitment.
