A 5"-6" sight radius, standing (presumably) at 165 yards? I wouldn't even know where to begin. Maybe hold 1 foot high on the first shot then work my way up? I need to revise my training. I've never shot more than 30 yards (across the street distance) on an indoor range, and even plinking (under hold my beer and watch this conditions) I've never gone beyond 50 yards, and there I walked them up to the target. Obviously I need to train harder or some old fart from an East Texas trailer park will take my ass out if I don't! ;D

I thought it said 150 feet, not yards. I have to go look again.

The article did say, "Police estimate Stacy was shooting from as much as 150 feet away." I didn't watch the video to see if what it said was different.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. That makes a lot more sense. Still, four out of six with a revolver on a  target at fifty yards under fire? Due respect to the boys in uniform, but I'll pay you ten dollars a head for every Navy SEAL who can honestly claim he'd have done better.

I'm with you, FQ..... it was 20 years ago when I was shooting the IHMSA matches I mentioned earlier. I doubt I could hit consistently at 100 yds now, let alone 150-200.........and can't afford .44 ammo to practice.

As to hold-over....you would be surprised at how little it needs to be at 150 yards. Of course it all depends on the load and barrel length, but a medium load for .357 magnum has a MPBR of around 125 yards, so you wouldn't need to hold over as much as one would think.

Here is a table with some common rounds listed...... of course there are variables and YMMV.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

People regularly hunt with .357 revolvers, 4" and longer the better.  I had fun shooting my 2" snubby out to 50 and 100 yards on IDPA silhouettes.  Even that was pretty flat shooting out to 100 yards.

Now Mucilek can hit a soda can shooting a S&W snubby upside down at 100 yards.  I doubt he could do it the soda can was shooting back though!

I too hope the fella can get a good nights rest and sleep in the knowledge that he did what he had to do.  No mention of his military status but it would appear he may have had some practice under fire.
