A heavily tattooed man who admitted robbing homes and stealing cars to fund his heroin habit has been charged with shooting at a police officer.
Jason Barnum was arraigned on one count of attempted murder in the first degree and two counts of assault in the third degree after the incident at Merrill Field Inn in Anchorage, Alaska, on Thursday.

The 37-year-old, whose face is covered with skulls and skeletons, lips are rimmed with skeletal teeth and right eyeball is tattooed black, was swaying from side to side in court, at times hitting his face on the microphone.

Police believe he was likely high during the shooting, which took place after officers noticed a vehicle linked to a string of burglaries in the motel's parking lot and accosted the man, according to The Alaska Dispatch.

The tattooed Barnum, who is photographed on Facebook wearing an iron cross necklace with a swastika in the middle, is associated with seven robberies in the Anchorage Hillside area, most occurring when residents were in their homes.

'When you go into people's homes at night, that’s risky behavior and that's not normal for burglars,' Lt. Anthony Henry said.

Using surveillance footage, officers traced him to room 209 of the inn where they found him with two others who also had outstanding warrants for their arrests.

When police handcuffed one of his companions, Barnum started shooting at officers with a gun stolen from one of the homes he'd robbed.

The tatto on the eyeball had to have hurt like hell.   even if it eas numbed, when it started to heal, it had to hurt.

A red-dot sight would show up quite nicely against that eye......... just sayin'......  ;)

Work on your on your counting skills Peg. One shot? You just bought an AR. If you're like me, if that guy breaks into your house in the  middle of the night you're going to empty the mag. And no jury in this world, at least here in the South........ ;D

Beats a meth habit, at least he'll be moving slow. Sort of like fast zombies versus slow ones. Either way? A head shot will do, and he's provided all sorts of aiming points. ;D
