Range Report on Maglight LED Conversion Bulb

Well, I got my $13 TeraLux led bulb for a 2-3 D/C mag light today. After a bit of a fumble installing the thing....It is amazing. Its a whole new flash light. It must be 15 years old and its almost as bright as my Streamlight at 140 lumens, and it still has that "multi tasker" capability. I would hie myself to Batteryjunction.com and get one while they are on sale. Seriously, as far as bang for the buck its about the best $$$ I ever spent on a flashlight. Beats the heck of dropping $50-$100 plus for a new tac light, when you can just upgrade what's in the the drawer.

We just ran out of CR123s and AA batteries so I was going to order some from them this weekend.  Went there to show the wife what kind of deal we could get on them compared to Radio Shack ($20 for two 123  ) and saw the LED conversions for the 2/3 cells.  Walked out in the garage and what do I see poking out of my top box?  Yepper my old 3 cell Mag light.... We have a winner!

I got 12 Rayovac CR 123As  for around $16. Since they make Surefire batteries I'm pretty confident. Now granted, Surefire may have tighter specs, so they might not be the same, but I'm willing to take a risk. They have Duracells, 12 batteries for $20ish, and that beats the hell out of Radio Shack or Gander Mountain prices.

I've also picked up some of the Tenergy LED lights that work quite well.  May be a bit less refined then my nitecore but just as tough and bright.  You can buy several for the family for the price of a name brand.

this product tip from another forum....I have accumulated a couple of the SureFire G2 incandescent lights off prize tables, and have been looking for a LED upgrade module...just got a shipment from Solar Force (Hong Kong) for a couple of 320lumen modules for around $11 each...along with a flashlight body to make a metal light... the brass heat sink is not as massive as on my Malkoff module but the price is 1/5...center weighted beam, as I got the non orange peel reflector... you may have to remove the outside spring for some installations... the instructions say "string"... was confused till I tried to install... they mean spring... in case you are interested... it took about 2 weeks shipment from Hong Kong....
