Magoo, I live in a BLUE state. Everyone one of us Republicans in this state could vote for Romney TWICE and he still wouldn't carry MD's electoral votes! I won't say anything about your native OR, except I went to school in Eugene...you know:
There once was a man from Eugene,
who invented a sex machine,
concave or convex,
it would screw either sex,
but oh what a bastard to clean!

Hmmm, a free sex machine. Just think how many fatherless children that would prevent!

I live just 40 miles up I-5 from Eugene and have yet to find a need to go there.  There is a new Cabela's but that isn't quite enough.

If we could just get a sex machine cheap enough to produce with a self-cleaning function we could keep the democrat base occupied enough not to care to vote  ;D

Fox was reporting that a few in CONgress are questioning the "Obama-Phone" program.  Although it started under Reagan in the 80s, It's nearly trippled since Obama took office.  Even Dems are asking why.  Supposedly, a Dem got a flier in the mail saying that she qualified for one.

If they limited it to indigents who are either elderly or infirm, I could live with it, something to call 911 with. But seriously, a cell phone? I got along for most of my life without one (and i wish the damn things had never been invented). What's next, high speed internet and cable? Wait, forget I asked that. >:(

Actually FQ, a computer and internet connection is more useful to a real job seeker than a phone since you can search for jobs on the internet, plus use it for communications.
I think they should get that instead of the phone, but with a block on the cable so no tv service.

"But I need it to look for a job,if I wanted to look for one".

People have stopped getting landlines and so a cell phone is appropriate.  I would only program them to call 911 and that's IT.

Internet is getting to be ALMOST a requirement.  The oldest is job searching and no one will accept a hand written resume/application anymore.  It all has to be done online so a computer can scan it for keywords before tossing it in the circular file.  That said the library and unemployment office has computers free of charge.

As for internet? We have these nifty things called librarys where you can log on for free. Now maybe in rural areas, but as far as cities with bus service? I say nyet tovarich.

Do put to much faith in bus service FQ, we got crap for service here, but even in Ca they would take you all the way around the bay.
But they did not start early enough to get to work for 1st shift, and they did not run late enough to get home from 2nd shift.
