Florida favored to win Darwin Awards, again.....
« on: October 08, 2012, 11:31:33 PM »
Man dies after eating contest to win a Python (and no, not a Colt).

West Palm will now mourn a valiant home town hero. :'(
This jackass (I mean beloved native son), gave his all eating giant discus roaches and meal worms in an attempt to win an albino python. He then keeled over and died, but only after having tirumphed over other jackasses (I mean valiant competitors). I am soooo very proud of South Florida right now.

And PS, why is it still legal to sell pythons down here when people dump them in the wild and they flourish, costing us millions in eradication programs? Have as many as you want in the Great White North, but down here, its no and hell no. Frankly I think if you dump your python into the wild, you too should be released into the Everglades, bareassed naked. >:(

Saw that this morning, Quaker, and I had similar thoughts.  Bare-azz nekkid in the 'glades is too good for 'em.  We should seriously wound 'em before release.

Sheesh...  Makes me so proud to be a Floridian.

Don't feel to bad Mass has it's share of idiots as well, although ignoring your calendar isn't fatal.

Chicago has the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, and yesterday East Boston nearly had the Columbus Day Bank Robbery.

Except, of course, banks are closed in Massachusetts on Columbus Day.

Unfortunately for Carlos Leger, 39, the devil is in the details and the police are right on his tail. Leger is expected to be arraigned today on a single count of attempted unarmed robbery, police said.

“Give Me All The Money,” a note seized by police said. “No Dye Pack.”

The accused robber missed just two things: the date and the police officer passing by in Maverick Square who saw the sunglasses, hat and blue latex gloves as the man pulled on the bank door yesterday about 9 a.m., police said.

Unlike Leger, the officer knew it was a holiday.

“The suspect stated he did not attempt to go in the bank,” a police report said. “Officer observed the suspect had another latex glove attached to his left hand.” The man tried to get away, police said; they found a tan pillow case and the note in his front pocket.

Whenever a story of overwhelming stupidity pops up, I just save myself some time and assume it happened in Florida.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.
