I was woke up the morning of 11/17/2012 by someone beating on my door at 6:30am. I answered the door like i always do that early in the morning with my glock in hand, i was surprised to see the Etowah County drug task force surrounding my door with guns drawn. They asked if a certain person was there and i answered immediately that he was not and that he had not been there in several years. They immediately saw my handgun and started to panic, ordered me to drop it and to get on the ground. I complied with what they asked and they proceeded to drag me outside my home into my driveway before putting handcuffs on me. Soon thereafter i was told i was close to being shot, at which i told them if they are gonna treat innocent people that way then they should have shot me instead. He continued to cuss in my face telling me how stupid i was for coming to my door with a gun and that i should have looked outside to see who was there before opening the door. Not once before i opened my door did they identify themselves so i assumed is was another tweaker who was looking for the person the deu had the warrant for. The thugs then went inside my home without consent to search for the person named on their paperwork. After about 15 minutes of being handcuffed they realised they could not arrest me for anything and they took the cuffs off. One of the thugs that was present called me inside to "talk" and proceeded to tell me that "before they come back to my house i had better get right with jesus, buddha, or whoever the f..k i choose to worship". In my opinion he was threatening my life with that statement but im sure they will find a way to twist it around and justify it. After a couple minutes of him trying to lecture me on not answering my door with a gun and telling me i am basically a dead man walking they decided to leave. When i walked outside i saw my handgun laying on my step in 4 pieces, with no magazine anywhere around, then i saw all the internal parts of my slide laying in the dirt in my driveway. As they were walking to their trucks to leave i went out to ask for my mag and was met with more threats. I went to the first truck and asked which one had my mag that i needed to get it back before they left. The person who threatened to kill me approached me and said he "dont know anything about my goddamn magazine, and for me to get my hand off his f....k truck". I stepped away and said "really", to which he replied, "yeah really, if you dont want your ass whipped up and down this street you will get away from my f....k truck". I then went to the next truck in line and asked the same thing, one of the guys inside the truck said it was laying on the ground beside my truck as they were pulling away. The magazine has yet to be found and i am also missing a flashlight that i paid $150 for. I called the sheriff of Etowah County and was basically told to hire an attorney and was then hung up on. I spoke with an attorney this morning and he asked me to go to the sheriffs office and get a copy of the warrant, application for the warrant, and any documentation that pertained to the incident at my address. I went to the sheriffs office and asked for the paperwork and was told my attorney would have to get that for me. I then asked for a complaint form to take with me to fill out and was told again that my attorney would have to get that for me as well. I call the attorney back and told him how i was met with resistance and he is doing research as we speak.

Sounds like a good felony complaint to me. Getting put on the ground and cuffed was excessive, but within the officers purview. But the threats and mag theft? Sounds like making terroristic threats and larceny under color of authority to me. That's some quality jail time.

Still worth making the complaint as at least it'll be in his jacket so the next time, and with guys like this there will be a next time guaranteed, the victim will be able to point to a pattern of abuse. If its a slow news week, I'd call the local TV station/paper and bitch as well. His superiors aren't going to be happy if he gets reporters calling them. Likewise, a letter to my state rep or Congressman, if they're pro 2A wouldn't go amiss either. Fuzz me? Fuzz you! Lets see who gets his ass kicked up and down the street in the long run. But then, I can be a vindictive SOB.

Seems to me the first thing the lawyer would have told him is to STFU.
If not, local media would have been a far more effective outlet.
Since it occurred in your area keep an eye out for more info and keep us posted.

I treat this as HIGHLY suspect.

FB is the LAST place I'd look for creditable informantion, even after InfoWars.
Lets start with it being said to happen NEXT month.

Second, if you are dumb enough to come to the door with a pistol WITHOUT looking outside before opening the door, you deserve to be shot or at least cuffed.  It says in the post that "Not once before i opened my door did they identify themselves so i assumed is was another tweaker who was looking for the person the deu had the warrant for."  If you are really going to defend yourself there are better ways to stay alive than walking blind into a confrontation, gun or not. 

The poster getting dropped and cuffed is totally legal under a Terry Stop.  If an offcier believes there to be a weapon they are within thier right to cuff someone for thier safety and to search for additional weapons.  Since this jack-a$$ started at the door with one visible he already provided probable cause.  The next step is to disable the weapon if possible, ie disassembling it.

The lawyer should be doing all the leg work.  That's what he gets paid to do.  And the lawyer should be knowledgeable enough to know his client would be getting the run around.

I don't necessarily answer the door with a gun in my hand, but if there is a knock at the door.  I do grab a gun first, then look at the window.  Something about having a drunk X-BIL calling me threatening me on the phone saying he and his friends were coming to come over to my house and kick my ass.  Then a few weeks after that he did try to strangle me inside a Sears store. 

Sooo... The people who know me know better to call first.
