Where has the NRA been?  I know they "Have something significant" to contribute tomorrow but they have let all kinds of accusations fester in the court of public perception.

What could be wrong with a simple, "The NRA does not condone the slaughter of the innocent in any way and any fault for the young man's actions lies squarely on his shoulders.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims families."

Tomorrow's announcement is crucial to the NRA's future.

The only problem I have with it, is they are picking a really lousy time to do it on the Friday before Christmas. One of the busiest shopping days, and few will be watching the news to see it. The best time for these type of announcements is at the start of the weekly news cycle on Monday. That is why the White House always releases detrimental information on Fridays. Fewer people see it, and by Monday it's all 3 days old.

I don't know much about the inner workings in the gun industry, but I'm pretty sure the NRA and other big players have been meeting over this and they needed time to craft a unified message and strategy.  However, I totally agree with this.  Friday is lousy.  They should have done it yesterday because Wednesday is typically a slow news day.

As a note, I remember Charlton Heston, being ambushed by Michael Moore about why the NRA planned an event or something that seemed to be around the Columbine killings.

If the NRA makes a quick response they will be damned by every MSM news outlet endlessly for 'profiteering' on the deaths of children....even though the other side gets a pass.

Any positive message the NRA would have delivered would have been buried in countless news releases condemning their 'dancing in the blood' of children to further the goals of the Evil Gun Lobby.

I don't know if waiting will be a better option, but I do know that a quick statement would have drawn tremendous flak.

The National Rifle Association has to this point been the wisest in controlling the topic.  They sat back quietly as a community mourned.  After four full days they came out and told us a comment will be coming on Friday - A full seven days post event.  Pretty hard for the Brady's and other anti's to attack a message when you don't put it out there, and it makes those ranting NRA, NRA, NRA look stupid when the NRA is not publicly speaking.

In this day and age of the 24/7 news cycle, and instant replay on the internet the day or time does not matter.  The has waited a historically accepted appropriate period of mourning before entering the fray, and they are doing it with appropriate separation from a major holiday and religious observation.

Now all that is to be seen is what they have to say.  Since the DFL has tipped their hand by having everyone they control reading from the same script it should be an easy general statement.

Guns were an issue BEFORE this shooting and the lies are nothing that they weren't spewing prior to as well. They just seized the opportunity of the flowing blood of children to elevate the hysteria of their uninformed screeching. It's a low and disrespectful approach.  We DO need the other aspects of what happened in this incident to be pushed forward. To just lay it all on gun control is disrespectful of the victims. We owe it to those kids to address the real issues, not the control of the tool the guy used to perform his evil.

Let me rephrase what you posted.
The Dems are doing the same things they've been doing for years and the pro gun groups sit on their thumbs and let them because they just never learn.
