Not that my opinion is worth a fart in a tornado...........

Avoid GM and Chrysler.  Never, ever do business with them.  The thug in the White House, nationalized those two, screwed/buttraped the bond and debt holders to buy union votes, and then gave the companies back to the same management and unions that ran them into the dirt in the first place.

Bailed out the auto industry my ass!  Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, and the most 'green' of them all Tesla didn't get bailed out.  The ones what didn't get goobermint assistance are the only ones that will ever get my business ever again.

You must be my Brother From Another Mother because you are definitely singing the family song!

One of my best friends just got one a couple months ago. HE LOVES IT. I'm not a Ford guy but it's a nice truck.
He says it has plenty of power for the light towing he does through mountain highways and is less expensive than the Tundra I'm drooling over.

Tyler,

Just buy the truck you feel comfortable in. Sit in it, drive it and haul your significant other in it in a test drive. Put the equipment on it you want and need. You don't need to get 4 doors if it is just you or your SO. Have a larger family, or take your fishing buddies with you, then consider them. Otherwise, those extra 2 doors, added seats and extra body length add serious weight to the truck. That will mean less gas mileage, more wear and tear on running gear (especially 4WD) and brakes, plus you have to get a larger garage to put it in! My preference is the Ford F150 (I own one: 1996 SWB 4x4 w/small V8, AT, AC and P/W/B) and runs fine plus it does fit in my garage. I guess I'm trying to say that my advice is don't fall for a truck you don't need because you find a great price; look for the truck you need and want and buy it. You'll be happier in the long run.

As for not buying a Chevy or Dodge truck (with the built in gun cabinet) because the government bailed them out...the government also provides single women with free contraceptives so you won't touch one because of that? In a way, that's letting the government tell you what not to buy. So what else do they subsidize we shouldn't buy?

It's not just the bailout JR, they build a crappy product as well!  I worked for GM a lifetime ago, my father retired from GM after 30 years and didn't drive one!  Chrysler isn't the company it once was either!  I'll never buy another of either.  These are my opinions and observations from a mechanical point of view!  The bailout was the icing...

As to avoiding girls on free birth control?  My wife has a say in that....   ;D

Ford guy here too.
Side note on Ford, I use to design automatic transmission - automated assembly machines - for "the big three" and a few other Asian companies.

Ford engineers and quality control people were ALWAYS at our facility for quality inspections - status reports - on their project.
The designs were much better than chevy or chrysler and tolerances in the GO/NO-GO inspection stations also of tighter values.

I grew to love Ford for their attention to detail, over the other two American mfg.

-  And as far as your choice of vehicle if it were me I'd go Diesel - I know I know... more expensive fuel, but overall the longevity of all the components (if you keep vehicles like we do) will be with you longer than a gas vehicle.

Hey,  ;D I said my opinion wasn't worth a fart in a tornado.  8)  Lots of things I don't buy cause of goobermint interference or corporate policy I don't agree with.  I usually don't push it on other folks.  The 'bailout' bullsnot just gets me all worked up.

Ughh.... What a joke!   >:(

I had set up an apointment at 9AM today to meet with a salesperson.  Turns out she doulbe or triple booked herself.   >:(. So she passed me off to some other dude.  Then I was told the truck I was looking at online had already been sold.  I had confirmed it Friday late afternoon that it was still there.  So I had my choice of a red one or a white one.  Test drove the white one, started filling out credit paperwork.  I asked yesterday about what paperwork to bring, so I brought it.   Then he tells me "Oh, I need X, Y, and Z.". I told him I'd have go back home to find it.  So he asked for some money to hold it.  I plunked 200 dollars cash.  So I drive back home, get the paperwork, and make it back at 3:15.

He had me sitting there from 3:15 til 4:45 for the finance guy, who never got done.

So I told him I wanted my $200 back.

Got my money and took off.

Do I look that stupid to fall for their BS?

Wait, don't answer that!

So, I pee'ed away a whole day.
