I received this email from Sen. Bill Nelson(D-FL) exactly as I present it here (I have redacted only my name and email address ).
The portion that was struck through is of particular interest to me. Was it intentional? Was it supposed to go out like that? Does he not believe we have a right to self defense? I don't know what to make of this.

http://billnelson.senate.gov/contact/index.cfm#email Dear Mr. ******:
Thank you for contacting me about protecting Second Amendment rights.
I grew up on a ranch and have been a hunter since I was a boy. I have had guns all my life. I support a person's constitutional right to bear arms. I support the Second Amendment.
In 2008, the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed that the Second Amendment protects a person's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to military service,
and to use that firearm for traditional lawful purposes like self-defense within the home. This is the law of the land. I appreciate hearing your views on this subject. Hearing from you helps me to better serve you in the Senate.
Sincerely,
Bill Nelson
