Glad you're back.  For awhile I thought I was going to have to buy a new dark suit.

Maybe you should employ a different approach, scratch & cover, perhaps?  ;D
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Hi All,

First let me say that though I have not commented much I have been keeping an eye on y’all.

Next, let me mention that I HATE Bill Gates.

Here is what is going on here.

As some of you know, my system died some weeks past.  I called the “Geek Squad from Best Buy” (useless).  They told me that either the drive was dead or the mother board was.  I called a local company called “Bay Geeks”.  Alden from Bay Geeks came over after I bought a new system (Toshiba Notebook) and attempted to set it up.  The new system runs on Vista (I HATE Bill Gates) and of course, had problems.  First it won’t run Office 2000 so I had to get a Vista version (I HATE Bill Gates) and then attempt to restore my system from a two month old backup (need to do that more often).  Low and behold Vista will not read backups from any older Windows systems! (I HATE Bill Gates)  So we had to get a program to translate between Windows and Vista (I HATE Bill Gates) and get the data.  By This time Alden has subcontracted a guy named Anthony to help (we are going on 2 weeks now) and he (Anthony) is good at his job (miracle of miracles!)   After several sessions the system seems to be working well or at least as well as designed (BTW did I tell you I HATE BILL GATES!!).  Anthony is now trying to get info from my dead drive and is setting me up a server using my old system and a new drive.   Maybe by the time I retire things will be going smooth (I HATE BILL GATES….Microsoft MUST DIE!)

While all of this was going on my books have become a mess due to lack of information, lack of time to work on them and my GF (who is also my bookkeeper) being in CA for this month of hell as well.  Her Mother has been ill for a year now and was going downhill rapidly.  She did pass away about 3 weeks after my GF got there (sad but not unexpected, she was 91!).  My GF needed to be there and I’m not complaining it’s just that timing on all fronts was terrible.

Also somewhere in here I picked up an Ishapore .308 on my C&R license.   The wood and all looks good but is covered in Cosmoline so that’s another project (fun one though).  The damn thing is BIG (9.5 lbs) but really cool looking.  I’ll post pictures when I get started.

UPDATE

The above was written about a week ago.  I have since bought a new drive for my old system and turned it and my old drive (retuned by Alden saying he could not access any data on it) over to Anthony.  Anthony called me two days ago saying that there was NOTHING WRONG with my old system!!  That the boot register was pooched but all else was fine and all data was intact.

SOOOOO,  I am now about two grand into a new system that I did not need.  Anthony is setting up my old system with the new drive as a sever and hooking in a flash drive I have as a redundant  (automatic daily) back-up.

One last time… I HATE BILL GATES!!
