So here is the question that we, as a society, struggle to answer... do we approach this problem by dealing with the broken people or by controlling the stimuli ?
Dealing with broken people walking around is the price we pay for living in a free society.
The murders committed by madmen - regardless of any stimuli they get - are acts committed by madmen. They have always been with us and always will be with us as long as humans exist. The stimulus that touches them off could be violent video games, I Love Lucy reruns or their own shadow.
(but only with a South Westerly wind between 3 - 7 mph on Tuesdays)
Trying to get politicians, Doctors or communtiy organizers to deal with a human race problem only causes MORE problems in the long run.
Working as a paramedic, I've seen f**ked up batsh!t crazy loon psychos in jails, prisons, state mental hospitals, their living rooms and on the street.
The one common factor is that they will
ALL be on the street at some point, before AND after incarceration/involuntary committment.
We don't warehouse crazy people anymore by locking them up and throwing away the key. That led to disgusting conditions and maltreatment of huge numbers of vets after WWII.
Again, it's the price we pay. Sometimes that price is huge and heartbreaking but there it is.
