There should be a round count attached to it.  That's 15 days of class, 3 weeks.  The state should provide a minimum of 200 rounds per day which will help proficiency.  Then an additional 250 rounds per month absolute minimum with a some 4 hour refreshers to keep them sharp.

The teacher that get's this may not be a gun person...but the teach that is a gun person should love this.

And...I dunno what it takes someone other than myself to keep their skills up, I'd like for them to stay sharp.  I wonder if the 250 a month is really enough...maybe a yearly refresher or a pre-semester refresher of 8 hours and 500 rounds to kick off a new semester.

Isn't DHS claiming that some of it's 1.6 billion rounds is for the Dept. of Ed? Let's use them here.

Most leos don't get anywhere close to that.

Shooters also know better what it takes to be competent.

It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

It is a perishable skill. I wonder about LEOs who go to the range once a year. Hell, I go (went) once a month. Now I just thank god for airguns as I can't afford to use my stash till the dust clears. Less than two pennies a shot from two nice .22 airguns and I can keep in practice. I'd reccomend them.
