I had to google dyfs. Division of Youth and Family Services. A child protection agency.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

When I lived in GA, it was called DFACS..
Every state has it's own name for it. The "mission" seems to get a little fuzzy (read predictable) sometimes..

We still refer to it as DFaCS... Dep.t of Family and Childrens Services.......
Like anything else, if used as originally intended, it is a useful tool..... but sadly, there are a lot of folks who use DFACS as a weapon (like ex husbands, family... and I've seen neighbors use it to get 'even' with neighbors during arguments)...... I actually heard a woman in Wal-mart talking about someone saying that "she was good minded to call DFACS on that bitch for calling animal control on her dogs."

Someone I know who works with DFACS once told me that over 75% of the investigations that are triggered by 'call-ins' are unwarranted.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I have a "No Soliciting" sign that I point to when solicitors ring my bell.

Now I've ordered one of these for this kind situation.

We had an incidental brush with DYFS years ago. They basically have Gestapo powers here in NJ. They can act on any complaint, any observation, any phone call, any fart in the wind. They can take your children and ask questions later. They can interrogate your children, take whatever stories they can develop, and lock you up. It's one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

Of course, our situation wasn't direct, just associated with something they were working on, but they wanted to get all up in our stuff to "interview" our kids about this other situation. We told them to go have anal sex with themselves and we got away with it.  Scary stuff though.
