OK correction. He changed his vote to nay, so it can reemerge,  so not as much of a hero as I thought. Still, he did vote nay. We'll see what the future holds, because one thing is for sure. This ain't over. Still, round one, we kicked their ass. There were more votes for national carry than a hi-cap mag ban. KMA Schumer.

Senator Reid did vote 'Yea' for the AWB, the trafficking bill, and the magazine capacity bill - preventing any further consideration because each was ultimately rejected.  I think he knew they didn't have the votes to pass and he voted that way on purpose.  He can stand before his Democrat colleagues and say, "See, I voted for 'em but it just wasn't enough."  When in reality, he knew he was voting to kill them for good.  There's much to criticize Senator Reid for when it comes to partisan politics and I'm certainly not a fan of his, but he's not a completely rabid gun grabber like others in his caucus.

Send him a thank you letter for that vote. There is a Senate rule that says if the majority leader votes yeah on on a bill that is defeated, it cannot be brought up again. By voting yeah, he killed the the thing. Hat's off to Reid. He earned his NRA A rating today.

You've got it backwards. Reid voted NO. By doing so the bill can now be brought up AGAIN.

"Nevada Sen. Harry Reid (Reid only voted no for procedural reasons, so that Democrats can call up the provision later on)"
