#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor made a bold suggestion while closing out the Independent Speaker series at Glenn Beck’s “Man in the Moon” weekend on Saturday.

It may be time for the Tea Party to drop the title “Tea Party,” he says.

The author, who describes himself as “a Tea Party guy through and through,” explained that conservatives have much to learn from the tactics of the left.  ACORN didn’t have to change its work when it came under fire several years ago, he noted — it just got a new name.

“I’m throwing this out there…” Thor told the audience.  “Do we need to consider adopting another name so that we can reach out to young people…get beyond the stigma?  We don’t have to change our values.  Do you think ACORN changed its values…?”

The audience seemed almost completely on board, throwing up a cheer immediately.

Thor did not suggest a new name for the Tea Party, but spoke about how conservatives can go about “reclaiming” the Republican Party by utilizing the same tactics as the Democrats.

The audience may not agree with the opinions and policies of those on the left, but Thor said it’s undeniable that they have a certain talent when it comes to messaging and organizing.

“Success leaves clues, and if you sow the same seeds, you’ll reap the same rewards,” he said.

One of Thor’s ideas was to take out billboards in every black community across the United States reading: “There’s a limit to what the Democrat Party can do for you, and you’ve been seeing it for decades.” Below would be statistics like the black unemployment rate, incarceration rate, and more.  He noted that Democrats always warn Republicans about being on “the wrong side of history” in various issues — Democrat stances in history could also be on the billboards, from slavery to Jim Crow laws to the Ku Klux Klan.
“There are gains that the Republicans can be making in those precincts, and I don’t know why they’re not trying harder,” he said.

Another place where conservatives can use the tactics of the left, as he noted earlier, is in the language.

“Democrats are so good at this!” Thor said, suggesting the audience consider using the terms “tax fairness” instead of tax reform, or “entitlement security” instead of entitlement reform.

And on an organizational level, Thor said it is vitally important to gain control of the local precincts, since that’s where primaries are won and candidates are selected.

“If you control the precincts, you control the Republican Party,” he continued.  “It is the one concrete thing you can do.”

Thor said that’s how the left turned Colorado from red to blue.  They’ll either move on to Texas next, or conservatives can go about reversing the process, he said.

Thor was so adamant about understanding the strategies of the left that he urged the audience to make Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” a number one bestseller on Amazon this summer.

“Anyone that goes to battle goes to battle knowing the mindset and tactics of their enemies,” he explained.

Thor repeatedly emphasized that it’s not a struggle between Republicans and Democrats, however.

Most Americans are proud of their country, he said.  The risk is from progressives, who he says “seek [nothing] short of their own revolution, one that will purposefully instill tyranny in order to instill social equality, which is just a fancy term for socialism.”

“There is no justice in social justice, and there is no equality in social equality,” he added.

Concluding on a positive note, Thor urged the audience: “Let’s learn, let’s study what works.  Learn why the Democrats have been so successful.  Because your contemporaries on the other side of the aisle –that’s what they did.”

I think you and Brad Thor overlook one big item: the media in this country will NEVER let the Tea Party get by with it. They will constantly remind viewers/readers this new group is the "old, hard line Tea Party."

For example, how far do you think the NRA would get if it tried to change it's name, or rebrand itself? The media would never let them sell it. They would be called out for their brazen attempt to manipulate/deceive the public.

In my county my Dem Sherriff won't allow anyone to get a type III permit. Fine, thank you sir. Instead, I'll set up an NFA trust from out of state and you don't get a say in it. See? Look how easy that is. It might cost a little more and take a little longer, but I win. That's what we need to do. There is no crisis here, we're in it for the long haul. It's been 41 years since Roe V Wade and the fight goes on. It will be the same with the 2A 41 years after Heller, because the antis won't go away. The fight will never stop. We just need to fight smarter and fight longer.

My previous post expresses to much  of my thoughts on the subject for me to delete it, but comes across as to much of a personal attack on George for me to leave it as is.
American Conservatives are to brainwashed with obeying the letter of the law, and asinine ideas of "fair play" to ever be an effective political group .
"Fair" is where you go for rigged games and greasy pizza , politics is where you go if you don't mind busting a skull or 2.
I keep telling you people, all of you, not just George, all the answers are in history, whether economics, immigration, or, as in this case, regaining our rights .
It took a long bloody war to get them in the first place, it took decades of Union violence,  mob killings, and riots to fall this far, only an absolutely ignorant idiot would think we will regain what we have lost by fancy campaign speeches .

So you have your trust set up, BFD, the Sheriff can still harass you every time you try to use your NFA stuff by arresting you on BS charges like disturbing the peace .
If you want your rights get rid of him.
Set him up with a 15 y/o hooker or have some one blow up his car.
Even if every one in the county knows you did it,that isn't proving it, and you can bet the next guy will think hard about his position on NFA items.

There are no "rules of engagement in a war you intend to win.
If SEIU members shove a Tea Party advocate then some SEIU members at random need to be crippled.
That's how you play politics.

Its not fighting for a stalemate, its taking his weapons away. He has no legal authority. So, what has he got? Guns, men and an agenda. If he uses those I'll play the victim card faster than the Reverend Al, and I'll have it set up ahead of time so I'll go viral faster than Trayvon. At which point, what has he got left? No legal authority, no moral authority, and he's a youtube joke. That is how we have to roll, at least in stage one. Let them discredit themselves so that no one believes them. Then, and only then is it time for force on force. If you act too soon, they will have the moral high ground. Step one is taking it away from them and making them a joke using their own words.

One thing that our side misses the boat on badly is  this Conservative Joe Doe makes a statement such as "You ever see Malcolm X with his pant's around his butt and his hat on backwards ? If Malcolm came back today he would look at young blacks and say I got shot for these azzholes ? What a waste"
Liberals will instantly start screaming "He's a racist" they will get his ex wife to say he's no good in bed, they will access his sealed Juvenile record and expose him for stealing a pack of bubble gum when he was 12.
We've all seen exactly that happen .
Nobody ever points out that they are attacking the messenger because what he said is 100% accurate and there is not one single thing there they can challenge.
If he got the slightest fact wrong they would be on it like stink on sh!t.
But their attacks on his character in fact confirm the truth of his original statement.
