Many years ago I was trying to talk down a fight between a good friend and a guy who had been harassing him after a illicit contest of speeding vehicles.
The guy turned and told me to butt out or I might "get my fat ass cut."
My friend calmly said, "He'll have his .45 pointed at your guts and the safety off before you get the blade fully opened."
For some reason, it all ended there.

This reminds me of a quote from Clint Smith, that goes something like this, "Whether you say halt, alto, or whatever, I've found that a large caliber handgun aimed at the head is a pretty universal language."
