BOth my grandfathers would get very violent before they had a TIA.   they would calm down, then the tia would happen.  Its pretty common actually.

If he'd had any sense, he would have kept his hearing and eyesight.

I think I understand now....You may have the timing of events a little off.
If you get violent BEFORE parts of your brain are being blood starved, that just makes you an asshole.

If your grandfathers were exhibiting symptoms, that is the onset of the TIA - not afterwards.

He was 107 ffs give him a half an hour and he would have dozed off and since he was deaf he wouldnt even hear you coming and if two cops cant over power some poor old geezer aged (and will say it again 107) then they really should consider a career as a crossing guard in a ghost town.

I was wondering the same thing.  While it's seems obvious if the guy is shooting at cops they have every right to defend themselves.  But why did that even happen.  Couldn't they just wait the guy out?  It wasn't like there were hostages or he would have been making a run for it or something.

There have lots of abuses lately with the use of SWAT teams but this one's not so clear.  More details are needed.

How is it when cops and teachers screw up, they always get put on "paid administrative leave". And when we in the private sector do, we get FIRED.

How is it when cops and teachers screw up, they always get put on "paid administrative leave". And when we in the private sector do, we get FIRED.

Paid administrative leave does not mean they screwed up.  It is a part of their contracts that recognizes we should not and can not talk about situations until the emotions are calmed and we all know the facts.  In law enforcement it recognizes the stress affects of an incident and gives the time for the body to adjust.  Over the last few decades the media and coffee shop have conditioned us to believe that leave means guilty, when that is not the case.

Maybe they figured it would be easier to explain than putting a 107 year old in jail..
