Water Filter systems
« on: September 10, 2013, 11:20:45 PM »
Looking for opinions or experience anyone may have with daily use systems like the Berkey, or ZEN.  Berkey certainly seems most popular, but the ZEN seems a much better value.  This type of system seems appealing because for any emergency situation where power and public utilities were interrupted rain water, pond water, most any source could be easily made potable without the need to boil, and having the benefit of not tasting mud and bird poo.

Even in day to day use my concern is things like fluoride, chlorine, etc. make city tap water even less appealing for health reasons than the bad taste.  Well waters even more of a concern with things like bacteria, lead, and heavy metals as common contaminates.

After browsing the first two links, the Zen site sounds like it was written by a stoned hippy with the help of his holistic "doctor".

Stage 8: Magnetic Tap
The water flows through a magnetic tap as it gets dispensed from the unit. "Magnetized water is claimed to be energy-building, activating, cleansing and detoxifying. There are reports of people resolving bladder problems, recovering quickly from a stroke, alleviating arthritis pain and reducing blood pressure by drinking magnetized water."

Mmmm, sure.  Way too much bullshit being slung there....
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.
