I go through to keep the values on my policy current about twice a year, given the roller coaster in prices lately. I got into it again yesterday and adjusted some up (and some down, for a change). When I hit "submit", it kicked back two of them saying that they weren't insurable.. What the ...?!
I fired off a note to USAA and got back that "A gold ring isn't covered for more than $2,500, ...", and that I wasn't eligible for the policy anyway, but that my policy was in effect. I just couldn't add or adjust values anymore... HUH!!!
I responded "Well, I'll be damned."
One of the two kicked back was $2,400. The other was $400. The explanation didn't even fit the circumstances..
I JUST renewed my homeowners, with another outfit, of course. Now I have SERIOUS concerns as to whether I've got "actual" coverage on any of the guns, or not...
I need insurance on the guns.. My Homeowners/Auto carrier doesn't cover them at all. I can't afford to write a check to redo the base policy, but I need these things covered..
Who writes your policies, please, (if apart from your base Homeowners policy)?
I activated that base $2,500 NRA policy, and will probably just go through them for the rest. Do any of you have any experience with that outfit/coverage?
ALFA is a big carrier around here, who does write a firearms policy. (Formerly) Cotton States is another. Met Life writes a policy, I think.
My deal is that I'm in an (clean but) old Mobile Home for a house, and most insurers don't write a policy on them. I'm limited. The ones I mentioned do write M.H. policies.
Any experience or suggestions would be appreciated..
Total to be insured, (replacement cost) not counting ammo is about 13K at this point.
Thanks..
