Back in (I think) 2010  Michael made a reference to "shoots and gates" with respect to the Shoot/No Shoot decision tree.  It was based on a study done by and for the IT field by either a big wig from Intel or HP.  Does anyone happen to remember the show number?  Although it was not originally meant for the self-defense community it's a terrific narrative on the shoot no shoot (or for that matter any) decision process.  I lost it during an Apple S/W up-date to my iPod and have been unable to find it again.  It was a great reference piece.

Any help will be appreciated!

Can't help with the episode, but he talks about it in his book TRAIL SAFE....an excellent read.

Have to say, I very much disagree with Bane on this.

The idea is, basically, once you make a decision you no longer question it.

However, at least in CA, and for my own ability to go on after, when I pull the trigger someone must be in mortal danger.

The idea that blood must be drawn once the gun is drawn may work for samurai and cops, but us normal folk are held to a higher standard. You must always question your situation...

I don't think that is so much the point here. More of a decision based on an escalating situation, meaning: once a situation escalates beyond a certain point, certain options are no longer viable for de-escalation.

For example, once the thug starts swinging that knife at you, harsh words aren't going to get it done anymore.
