I'm a daily reader of the Tribune, and can tell you I've never seen this guy before.  He's not on the staff.  I read this, and went online to check the feedback, as I was all hot and bothered (pissed off).  The comments are mostly pro 2nd.

I would think, even in an editorial, that if there's a quote, from the constitution no less, that you couldn't edit, add and subtract words.
We have seen the future: and it's expensive. -Michael Bane
Home of the Tickle Me Pamela Anderson. -Michael Bane
Weasels are the switchblade-carrying psychos of the animal world, the meanest creatures on the planet by aggression-level-to-body-weight ratio. -Marko Kloos

Look on the bright side, This idiot will be dead (relitively) soon. I'm actualy surprised that he lasted this long, some one that stupid could forget to look both ways before crossing the street, or breathe.

One thing I have not seen noticed yet, from the bottom of the article:

Willard G. Jones is a longtime resident of Greeley and former administrator of the University of Northern Colorado.

Mr. Jones is a product of his environment, and he is not even a professor to boot.  He is an administrator at a state school.  The term useless as tits on a bull comes to mind.  As always consider the source:  A newspaper editorial, and an 'ole coot.  The rest is child's play.
The person who has nothing for which his is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
- J.S. Mill
