George Carlin, good or bad, made you think, RIP
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:40:42 PM »
Just heard George Carlin passed away, love em or hate em he at least was never politically correct!

Called it like he saw it, made you laugh, get pissed, and wonder why there is so much BS in the world.

RIP George Carlin,  Here's a quick post he did on the American Dream.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

He was probably a flaming liberal - hell, I was at one point in my life - but he was funny, made you think, without being smarmy like Colbert or self-righteous like Maher.

He was unique.

God believed in him, let's hope George finally came to believe in God.
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do this to others and I require the same from them"

He pissed everyone off. It was great as long as he wasn't on YOUR ass.
George also published some surprisingly conservative writings on immigration and the role of the US.
The guy was bright and was totally enamored of breaking taboos, whether good or bad.
Cool guy...way cooler than the knuckleheads we get to vote for.

Carlin was an American icon who was as enthusiastic about his 1st Amendment rights, all the way to the supreme court, as we are about the 2nd.  God bless America and George Carlin.  I'm sure he's giving God an earful right now.
Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. - George Washington

I don't care for stand up comedians in general, however, George was in a class by himself.  I was fortunate enough to see him live a few years ago, and it was an experience I shall never forget. Whether or not you agreed with his philosophy on any given topic, at least you could see the rational behind his thoughts.  Hmmm, rational thinking, he could have been a revolutionary politician!

I've always thought he was funny and its a shame I'll never get to see him live, my brother loves him. I was shocked to read about his death last night (here). His comedy, while it left you deep in thought it wasn't hard at all to get your head around it.

He and Will Rodgers read newspapers, informed themselves, and then explained to the rest of us in a manner that had you laughing your ass off (of course Will  Rodgers never would have said "f..k".)
