I never have understood how that was possible. It's not like they are sneaking up on one another.

In a previous lifetime I saw the damage when an aircraft carrier (USS Ranger) managed to collide with a cargo ship.  That cost me back to back Indian Ocean cruises and, I suspect, the captain his career.  They ended up dry-docking in Japan where they cut the whole bow off and replaced it.  It was quiet the engineering feet.

 The article said it was near a suspension bridge so I'm guessing confined waterway with not much room for error.
Then of course there are Mr. Murphy and the fact that no matter how advanced the technology sh!t will continue to happen.

Experts claim serious side effects of flu shots amount to about one in a million - well this is what that one in a million looks like. This has freaked me out enough to bypass flu shots in the future. But what do I know - to each their own. A 25 year old woman in Ashburn, Virginia has come down with a severe debilitating neurological disorder days after receiving a seasonal flu vaccination.
