Just wondering what is the most prized possession gun you own?

3 inch GP100: The only gun I've ever drawn from a holster in the interest of self preservation. Thanks to my GP100, I walked away with a new fondness of that revolver, ringing ears, and a coyote pelt that still hangs on the wall over my reloading bench.

I was hiking back to my car with my rifle slung across my back and a European hare tied off on the sling. I was on an established trail, making plenty of noise, and was paying attention to my surroundings but I walked right into him anyway; dumb luck I suppose. I drew my GP100 and started yelling at him but he didn't spook. I fired two shots from about 20 feet; one jerked-trigger miss and one hit that entered at the base of the neck and exited behind the opposite shoulder. On inspection and skinning, I found him to be an adolescent male with a thick, full winter coat and no signs of illness or injury (other than the holes I put in him).

Yep.....be prepared....you never know where danger lurks.






And as far as I'm concerned, sunrise and sunset are good reasons to be armed.  ;)

My instances have been a mix of guns. A 30-30 Winchester, a Colt 1911 and a Mod 28 S&W.
Those were against 2 legged threats though.
I guess I could also count the 6 iron that I used to dissuade a coyote from running off with my bucket of golf balls I hit into the desert.
Bastard grabbed the bucket sitting on the ground 6 feet away from me!

Always armed. Best thing I ever carried along with it was Sabre Defense Spray. Saved me from a bite from a large dog and a possum freaking out my beagle.

I had a pack of yotes take down a deer about 30-40 yards behind me while out turkey hunting last year.  The scream of the deer, the howling of the yotes, and the gobbling of the turkeys all echoed through the woods making the most hair-raising racket I've ever heard.

We all made sure to walk out of the woods with our guns loaded that night.
