These 2 pictures were taken by a man in Grenola, KS. ( about 12 miles from me)
He said they were taken with one of  those new night cameras you leave in the woods.
The date was October 2008 at about 10PM according to him.
The area was South and East of Mulvane, KS. ( about40 minutes from me)

Game wardens have always said to all the locals that there ARE NO long tails in this area. ( I know different cause we saw one a couple years ago up in the rocks while deer hunting) Lots of guys have seen them .... but no pictures..

G Wardens also said it is against the law to shoot them too ( why are they worried about anyone shooting if  they claim that there aren't any ::)

But these pictures pretty much proves it once and for all..that the cougars are alive and well in our area...

Wow. Amazing.

I think it is pretty safe to say that where ever the deer are plentiful, that cougars are somewhere near by too.

P.S. You better pack a sidearm

We have a big bunch of those longtails.  People find tracks close to town pretty often.  Within the last ten years, jaguars have been spotted in the southwestern part of the state.  They used to range up into New Mexico and Arizona but were driven out by "civilization".

Thirty point DEER (see photos  below)

Shot by an Amish boy with hand made long bow:

This buck was taken by a 14 year old Amish boy near Dalton WI .
He used  a hand made long bow and made the killing shot by stalking
the huge buck using corn shocks for cover. The boy's family would not
allow him to  pose with the trophy animal for pictures so a nearby
neighbor, Willie Flacid posed and is also acting as spokesman for the Amish boy.

According to Flacid, the Amish family has already received
several  offers from outdoor sporting companies to purchase the
trophy. No dollar amount has been announced yet, but according
to Flacid, 'the amount of money being offered is enough that no
one would ever be hard  up again.'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GorHBjaiUxc  Or is it a hoax? Am I the only one here who thinks it's suspicious that a guy who possibly has a flacid willie is named Willie Flacid and he said that no one would ever be hard up again?

DNR says the same thing here about the big cats too (panthers in this neck of the woods).........but I've seen too many tracks and a few tail-ends moving in the woods over the years.
They say there are a couple dozen left in the north Florida area but they would never venture up into south Georgia (didn't know the animals could read maps).
My great grandmother told me when I was a small child that there were 'panthers' in the woods down on the Little River and along the creek behind our property.

DNR also said there were NO bears in south Georgia, but I've saw tracks on the river banks. And, a few years ago they even caught a black bear in town in a trash dumpster. Then the next year a black bear got hit by a car while crossing a bridge on our county line.

Experts don't know everything.

We had an area about 45 miles from where we live that it was estimated there were four mountain lions living.  MN DNR swore up and down there was no such thing and compared it to big foot sightings.  They then also gave us the same song and dance about being illegal to shoot them.  How can it be illegal to shoot something that does not exist?

They had to change their story late one evening when a local farmer called the sheriff's department to report hitting "wild game" with his pick up (he used this term for a reason).  A deputy, a state trouper and a conservation officer were all on his yard within half an hour looking at a huge mountain lion wedged under the front axle.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

That's one of those things where maybe, just maybe, the cats are better at hiding than the DNR rangers are at seeing.

Buck is real, story is constantly changing locations, religions, and shooter.  :)
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.
