The problem is that it spills over to everyone else.  Chicago is the only city where I have been shot at, shootings happen in all areas of the metro area, emergency services responders are attacked on a regular basis, and the entire basis for the drug and gang connection is to protect and grow their illegal and dangerous presence.

There is much to worry about in that place, and putting your head in the sand exposes your tender parts!

I was born in my grandparents house in Chicago in 1947. 

6640 South Oakley was their address.  (I remember their phone number to   Grovehill (GR) 61520, after having your local operator send you to the Chicago exchange

It appears to be on the west edge of West Englewood, or perhaps on the east edge of Chicago Lawn.

Spent most summers in Chicago until I was 16.

It was always a tough neighborhood, being on the South Side, but it noticed it going down hill when I would visit my grandparents, still living on Oakley, around 1970.
