Mass Shooting Reaction
« on: September 02, 2019, 08:55:28 AM »
Some perusing on the internet yields that about 10 billion people were born in the 20th century.  Searching history additionally shows that governments killed 100 million of their own people (excluding acts of war).  So, governments killed 1% of their citizens in the 20th century.  It is easy to say that number would have been larger had all nations been ruled by the murderous socialists/communists/progressives.

Here in the US, the number of people killed with firearms is approximately 16,000 per year excluding suicides. That's about .005% of the population.  In one hundred years, that would be approximately 0.5%.  So about 1/2 or 8,000 are crime on crime deaths leaving around 8,000 a year.  Now extract from that justifiable homicide, cops doing their job or citizens protecting themselves, we subtract 1,500 leaving 6,500.  Take out accidents of 500 a year now you have 6,000 remaining in the homicide category.  Now we see that 0.005 is actually closer to 0.002%.  Over 100 years that would be 0.2%.

So, as a citizen of the world minding your own business and obeying the laws you are 5 times more likely to be killed by your government than someone with a gun.  If you look at the deaths by gun in the US most are concentrated in about 1/2 dozen liberal run cities like Chicago which implies you are 10 times more likely to be killed by a government excluding acts of war.

"Ideas are more powerful than guns.  We would not let our enemies have guns.  Why should we let them have ideas?"  --  Joseph Stalin

"All political power comes from the barrel of a gun.  The communist party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party."  --  Mao Tse Tung redefined as Mao Zedong

"For the first time in history does a nation have complete gun registration.  Our streets are safer, our police more efficient.  The world will follow our lead in the future.Adolph Hitler

The recent mass shootings are undeniably tragic.  Many of the mass shootings are related to young men growing up without a father and being fed drugs to make them calm....look it up.  The easy answer of banning guns has demonstrably monstrous and grotesque unintended consequences multiplying death and greatly multiplying human misery.

If someone has better numbers please share.

Think hard on those three quotes.  Specifically Joseph Stalin and Mae Tse Tung.

For the past decades our free expression of facts and personal beliefs have been under attack under what we call political correctness.  We are no longer even allowed to hold our society to basic biologic fact of two genders under threat of criminal punishment.  We are seeing our First Amendment twisted, first from freedom of religion, then to freedom from religion, to freedom for any religion as long as it isn't Christian and recently Jewish (see Omar from Minnesota getting by with anti Jew attacks that wouldn't have been thought of two years ago.).

If we allow Mae Tse Tung's belief to be played out again, we will painfully re live, or re die, history, and the fears of Benjamin Franklin will come to fruition - We will not be able to preserve the republic that was created for us.

The third one is also chilling to me.

I hope we can all find a way to get along.

I purposely skipped Hitler, because I think we all know where registration will take us.

Safety?  The only two groups that would feel or be safer are the criminals and the government - Am I being redundant in that statement?

Gun control does not stop violence.  Just look at the UK, where guns shave a defacto ban.  Yes, they don't have very many shootings, but they have more assaults  and violent crime then the us has.   Ow how much is the culture and how much is thier laws a out self defense is up for debate.

I have been shot at by ak47( the real ones, not some semi auto clone) , returned fire with a 37mm,mugged at gun point,( while armed no less working on a high school)  and used my 1100 to stop some one from getting kicked in the head on the ground.  Criminals are going to be criminals.  I for one and happy they are using guns and not trucks , explosives, fire. Bombs  and air borne chemicals.   Just look Paris a few years  back, a guy stole a small box truck, killed almost 90 people and would ~450.

If you look at all the big mass shootings, just think what would have happened if the guy drove into the crowd with a 14' box truck filled with ammonium  nitrate.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
