Looking for opinions here. What are your ideas of civilians carrying handcuffs in their car? While I NEVER intend to try to cuff someone (I am not a cop and not paid for that). The issue on another thread about Narcan and having to cuff someone before using the Narcan started me thinking. I have what I call an emergency bag in the trunk and "thinking" about putting in a pair of handcuffs or, as some of you have mentioned, flex cuffs.
Thoughts?
First, one of my pet peeves, every member of law enforcement you see walking the streets or driving a vehicle is carrying handcuffs, and THEY ARE CIVILIANS.
In researching when I was teaching, there is no law against carrying handcuffs - metal, carbon fiber, poly, etc. However, it is a sticky area when you start to use them ... Especially if your wife gets loud and the neighbors misunderstand ... Ooooops! Off topic.
There are any number of charges that could come up if you restrain a person. Even EMS and medical facilities are heavily restricted from using any type of restraint.
