In fuggin New England, I gotta ask ‘em NOT to put in sugar!  Where I growled up, “regular” means black!

I like coffee that tastes like coffee so I usually drink it straight. If l put a teaspoon of sugar in a whole pot of coffee that's plenty, but I haven't done that in several years IIRC. Having instant vanilla cappuccino mixed in sometimes was good for a change of pace but I couldn't drink anything sweet like that every day. That's not really coffee anymore when you do that. My mom gets decaf coffee every time she goes out to eat and always says the same thing, "Oh! That's strong!", then she adds sugar and half and half until it doesn't look or taste like coffee anymore.   I don't even think she likes coffee, but she drinks it all the time now because it's free at the place she lives. She'll take anything free no matter what it is, whether or not she likes it or has any use for it. Some people drink coffee out of habit, some drink it for the caffeine, and some drink it because they like it.

The package UPS delivered today had a 50 ounce Javapress from GSI Outdoors that I bought for camping. It's marked 1480 ml. Why not an even 1.5 liter? Because this is America, dammit! We measure in cups and ounces. So, why not 48 ounces? Who knows? Of course I need to  try it at home first, but I may need to buy some other coffee. I mostly buy Gevalia that's ground very fine and normally only suitable for drip coffee makers. I'll try it anyway and see how much I have to sift with my lips and teeth when I drink it. It's BPA-free, shatter-resistant copolyester, has ballistic nylon wrapped, what looks like a super-thin layer of neoprene for insulation, and a pour-through, double-walled, insulated lid. "Silicone ring plunger design virtually eliminates coffee ˜blow-by' for the most flavorful, mud-free coffee or tea." They make other smaller sizes but Sunny Sports had this one on sale for a fraction over 51% off. Who can say no to a bargain like that? Not this guy. I inherited some of that from my mom but thankfully not all of it.

I still clearly remember my first, last and only stop at a Starbucks:  NO SPANKY!  When I say large black coffee, I mean LARGE BLACK COFFEE!  I don't want flavors, froth, white stuff, sugar or any other crap in my LARGE BLACK COFFEE!  Between the twits behind the counter and the majority of the customer base, I'm surprised I wasn't escorted out - There weren't no way this covey would have thrown anyone out.  Even my bride, who usually gets annoyed when I do stupid stuff, found humor in me trying to get a simple cup of my life juice.

What I did order tasted like shit in a cup and went in the trash outside the door .

I have said for years that I don't like flavored coffee, but I have had to make one exception.  When I was doing deliveries in the truck I discovered Mexican Coffee.  I don't know the full traditional preparation, but in the modern kitchen they brew coffee in a coffee maker - doesn't matter what type (the place I drank it at most used four BIG urns), they put the coffee in a pot on the stove; and they put in cinnamon sticks.  You ladle you cup full, add sugar, and it is like drinking a caramel roll ... especially when you hare having a good piece of breakfast bread with it.

Supermercado Lomabonita #4 in St. Paul, MN was my first stop on Tuesday's.  I would arrive at 7:00am, they would help me with their order, and then I had a half hour to waste before heading to my second stop.  We would stand in the kitchen enjoying fresh baked goods and the coffee.

Starbucks is nothing I can afford.  We have Cumberland farms, a local joint that’s grown into a NE monster gas and convenience store.  Good coffee for 99 cents for any size!  Or fill your own cup for the same!  I bring in my 20 oz’r!

Any of you guys heard of or tried Invader Coffee? Veteran owned and they air roast their coffee, saying it removes the acidity that can make coffee bitter.

Isn't pinching whiskey a little tricky?  I prefer the glub method.  Two gulbs for coffee.

AHHH! Salt doesn't belong in coffee. One time whoever made the coffee at a social club I belonged to put salt in it. Not only did it ruin the coffee, one of the members who started drinking it wasn't supposed to eat or drink anything with salt added to it. Then everyone had to be told not to put salt in the coffee, as if that was a regular thing everyone does. Most of us never heard of anyone doing that before and couldn't figure out why anyone would.

A pinch of whiskey in your cup of coffee is just fine. Irish cream is acceptable too if that's what you're into.

Some of those sound really good, but I'm not supposed to drink coffee at all. Doctor's orders. So I ate several dark chocolate covered coffee beans with my liter of decaf before I ate breakfast today. What my doctor doesn't know won't hurt me.

I read the ingredients on the chocolate covered coffee beans and the last one listed is, "Confectioner's Glaze (Lac-Resin)". Confectioner's glaze is used on a lot of different panned candies that have multiple layers built up like jelly beans and jawbreakers and tons of other candies. It's shellac that puts a shine on them and seals them so they don't stick together. Yep, the same shellac that's used for finishing wood but more refined, food grade. That means they try to get more of the bug $h!t and bodies out of the resin they collect after the female lac bugs secrete it. Malt balls and chocolate covered nuts are shellacked too and I can't get enough of them. Most Americans freak out when they see someone eating bugs but don't realize they're doing it all the time.
