I got a new gun Friday evening, a Desert Tech Trek-22 rifle, OD Green. It came with one Ruger BX-1 magazine. I loaded 2 BX-1-40 clear mags with red rotors, and put them in the storage holes in the stock.
The 40th Anniversary Edition 10/22 Carbine was available to customers beginning in January 2004. The 40th Anniversary 10/22 rotary magazine was also available as an accessory beginning in January 2004. Both the 40th Anniversary Edition 10/22 Carbine and the 40th Anniversary Edition rotary magazine were only available in 2004. I put an A2 flash hider on it with a rubber O-ring, so I can take it back off without ruining a crush washer. I need to get an M-LOK sling swivel socket for the forend. I like the UTG PRO QD Sling Swivel Adaptor, M-LOK, that I have on my 20" AR. It's 3 bucks cheaper than the M-LOK brand and made here in Michigan, a 55 minute drive from my house.
Once I get the Nichols Bullet 3-9x widefield scope mounted, I'll take a few pics. From what I've read, these were almost an exact copy of the Nikon Monarch at half the price. And even made by Nikon in Japan. Nichols scopes namesake is Tom Nichols, Nichols Sports Optics (Div. of Ernie Simmons Ent.) founded in 1991. Nichols Sports Optics had the same address as present day Guns Unlimited in Omaha NE., also founded by Tom Nichols. They originally cost 3 times as much as Simmons scopes. I read a really long time ago they went out of business after being sued by Leupold or someone for copyright infringement.
Every video I watched on YouTube said you get used to the weird grip really quickly, and it's comfortable to shoot. I hope so. They claim the TREK-22 straight blade trigger has a reduced pull weight of approximately 3.5 lbs, offering a crisp, clean break for enhanced accuracy and precision. One guy said it was better than his Ruger 10/22 with an aftermarket trigger he put in a TREK-22 chassis. It's only 26.5 inches long, 4.8 pounds, is suppressor ready with standard 1/2x28" thread pitch, and fully compatible with standard 10/22 rotary mags and large capacity magazines. It also supports standard and aftermarket bull barrels up to .920" diameter. I'll probably get a suppressor for it next year for my birthday. It would take 2 suppressors end to end on it to equal the length of a standard Ruger 10/22.
