It seems quite odd that the range it lased "doubled" because of the aluminum tape.

Yes it is strange.  It's actually aluminum flue tape for sealing flue joints on my wood stove.  And...with the 26" barrel I'm 3,675 FPSish...0 at 100 yards, 0.8" at 200 yards...it makes me giddy just to say that.  Still clicking at 2,900 FPS at 200 yards...who's yer daddy?

I'm waiting for the wild dog pack to show up tonight....the neighbor a mile down the road has 12-15 of them he lets out at night which run all the game off my property, attacked a hunter on my property and attacked my dogs in the back yard.  Growled at me and ran before I could do anything about it.

That rifle shoots almost as flat as the laser beam. Impressive. I love dogs, but when they run wild they should be hunted down just like feral cats. The owner should be too, but the law frowns upon that. There's no daily or yearly limit on feral cats, and no closed season in Michigan, or wasn't the last time I checked, but I don't know about dogs.

I think I would fry up some bacon, chop it up, and mix the bacon and grease with peanut butter, and paste it onto a board (or something) lying on the ground. The smell of bacon will carry for a long way, and I haven't seen a dog yet that can resist peanut butter. They'll stay there and lick it clean, or for the rest of their lives, whichever comes first.

That's a good'n, Frank.... made me chuckle.  ;D  ;D

Thanks, PegLeg. If nothing else, sometimes I amuse myself with things I come up with.

I still don't have a new gun but got a couple of parts to go on my 10/22 yesterday. But I need to find the other part I bought in May and haven't found yet, to use with one of them. Last night I removed an old part, modified a new one to take its place, and prepped it for paint. After I'm done with laundry I'll spray paint it. Tomorrow I should be ready to put it on, and maybe I'll find the other part. If I do I'll post a pic or 2.

I got a new gun Friday evening, a Desert Tech Trek-22 rifle, OD Green. It came with one Ruger BX-1 magazine. I loaded 2 BX-1-40 clear mags with red rotors, and put them in the storage holes in the stock. The 40th Anniversary Edition 10/22 Carbine was available to customers beginning in January 2004. The 40th Anniversary 10/22 rotary magazine was also available as an accessory beginning in January 2004. Both the 40th Anniversary Edition 10/22 Carbine and the 40th Anniversary Edition rotary magazine were only available in 2004. I put an A2 flash hider on it with a rubber O-ring, so I can take it back off without ruining a crush washer. I need to get an M-LOK sling swivel socket for the forend. I like the UTG PRO QD Sling Swivel Adaptor, M-LOK, that I have on my 20" AR. It's 3 bucks cheaper than the M-LOK brand and made here in Michigan, a 55 minute drive from my house.

Once I get the Nichols Bullet 3-9x widefield scope mounted, I'll take a few pics. From what I've read, these were almost an exact copy of the Nikon Monarch at half the price. And even made by Nikon in Japan. Nichols scopes namesake is Tom Nichols, Nichols Sports Optics (Div. of Ernie Simmons Ent.) founded in 1991. Nichols Sports Optics had the same address as present day Guns Unlimited in Omaha NE., also founded by Tom Nichols. They originally cost 3 times as much as Simmons scopes. I read a really long time ago they went out of business after being sued by Leupold or someone for copyright infringement.

Every video I watched on YouTube said you get used to the weird grip really quickly, and it's comfortable to shoot. I hope so. They claim the TREK-22 straight blade trigger has a reduced pull weight of approximately 3.5 lbs, offering a crisp, clean break for enhanced accuracy and precision. One guy said it was better than his Ruger 10/22 with an aftermarket trigger he put in a TREK-22 chassis. It's only 26.5 inches long, 4.8 pounds, is suppressor ready with standard 1/2x28" thread pitch, and fully compatible with standard 10/22 rotary mags and large capacity magazines. It also supports standard and aftermarket bull barrels up to .920" diameter. I'll probably get a suppressor for it next year for my birthday. It would take 2 suppressors end to end on it to equal the length of a standard Ruger 10/22.

Cat food and sardines worked.  3 possums and, oddly enough, 3 cats first night.  2nd night one of my dogs camped out and ate it all.  Freshly baited tonight with the cat food and sardines once again.
