New Year's Eve plans and New Year's wishes.
« on: December 31, 2025, 07:01:32 PM »
First of all, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I'm getting that in now in case I forget later. Besides It IS the new year in some countries. It's 2 am where I was stationed in Germany.

I talked to my younger brother, and it sounds like his plans are to duck and cover when the bullets start flying. He heard them landing on his house last year. If anyone thinks bullets are harmless when the come back down, check this out. One day at work, he had a cardboard box full of rusty parts that were all wet. The box had a hole in the top like a bullet keyholed and went through it. When he figured it out he told someone that one of the trailers they store parts in has a bullet hole in the roof. Then the rain went into the box which also had a hole in it. He said it was probably someone shooting an AK-47 up in the air. Working his way down though the box he found the bullet, after it went through the roof of a trailer, the lid of the box, and 2 more layers of cardboard. He held the .30 caliber bullet up to a magnet and it stuck, so he turned to the person he told it was probably an AK-47 and said, see, I was right.

I'm just eating Doritos and queso for now, but have frozen enchiladas and stuff for when I finish this little snack. I have a full bottle of Cuervo gold and 2 bottles of margarita mix in the fridge, so I'm plan on drinking until I don't feel any pain from the dog bite or anything else. Somehow it turned into a "fiesta Mexicana" but not intentionally. I just saw stuff on sale yesterday and bought it, and already had a bottle of tequila. I may or may not get dressed for the snow that fell today, and take my can cannon outside at midnight. The Hard Charger side charging handle will make it a lot easier to manipulate the bolt while keeping a firm grip on the "cannon".

Happy New Years to everyone.  I should have posted these two pics some time ago.  I took it at the place where it happened.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

This is what I should have bought to ring in Chinese New Year.

Happy New Year to all!!!
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

Happy New Year.   Lot's of amateur fireworks around but didn't experience any bullets... or haven't found as yet.  Very dull here.  Had dinner with the grandkids, came home about 9pm watched Ohio State get trounced by Miami and went to bed by 00:05.

BTB, even with the loss the OSU coach is the winningest in NCAA.  I rooted for Miami because that's where  Mark Rick went after he left UGA.

I loaded a mag with several .223 blanks and took my can cannon out at midnight. And it didn't fire, and I couldn't extract the round from the chamber. I brought it in the house, took the upper and lower apart, and pried the round out. Then I put it back together and went back out. The same thing happened. I have 2 boxes of Armscor Philippines blanks and after several attemps couldn't get any of a half dozen or so to fire. I even tried shooting them in my T/C Contender and they didn't fire, but had primer strikes. So I shot 9 or 10 G.I. M200 blanks from a Thermold clip in my Contender that worked, and fired a few more in the Can Cannon. I had 1 that didn't fire and probably a dozen or so that did.

Also, I cut open my finger when I pulled back the side cocking handle, because there's a HUGE burr on the elevation screw slot (arrow). I either need to take the quadrant sight off, or fix the burr. I'm not sure which I'll end up doing. If I take it off, but leave the A4 carry handle on instead of putting a red dot back on, I can use the cable channel guide of the Strike Industries Bang Bands as a front sight, since they're all pointing straight up.

Happy New Year everyone!

Quiet day for us old folk. Slept the event away and got up to care for the pets as usual. Got a surprise day off, work pay plus holiday pay is always nice, but an occasional extra day off is nice. Did some housework and spent some time taking care of worship service details and working on my sermon.

The only "planned" event was to catch part of the Rose Parade. Last year our daughter gave me a gift of a trip to the Budweiser farm. Part of the package she purchased was a tour that lasted about six hours. We each groomed, harnessed, and then unharnessed and cared for a horse from one of the hitches. The pair were then hitched to a wagon that we not only rode in, but we each got a chance to drive the team. The team we worked with were from the west coast hitch and were in the parade. The pair we worked with were the Wheel Team (the pair nearest the wagon).

Once again, Happy New Year everyone!

Man if you like working with horses have I got the place for you.  You don't even have to pay to enjoy your time tending the horses.
