As a North Carolinian, I could have told you that Andy has been a regular in ads for Democrats for years. Every 2 to 4 years they trot him out to endorse some Democratic hack who is running for Governor or the Senate or whatnot.

I finally managed to locate the darn commercial!  Be prepared with a trash can as "Dopie", Andy, and Henry Winkler will make you want to yack.  This is the fist time I have attempted to post a link, so I hope this works.
