I'm still all shook up about the Zombie thing today.

K. I'll bite... what Zombie thing today?
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

This is a  Freedom of Speech issue, but not the way it's being implied here.  You're free to write as many letters or articles as you wish and you are free to mail them to everyone in the country.   You can buy your own printing press and publish an alternative newspaper if you wish. (Many people have done that.)   I may not agree with what a newspaper  decides to print or not print, but it is their freedom to do with their press as they see fit.   To force a newspaper or anyone to carry certain authors or viewpoints would trample on everyone's rights.

All that is true, Alf, but do remember, the papers themselves constantly talk about the public's "right" to know.

This is one area where we need to be aggressive and ping both the editorial and financial boards about why? Keep asking the questions, and maybe start contacting advertisers - especially local ones - about the paper's refusal to present a fair balance of the news, only one side. That should move them.

We need to know that the papers will at least go through the motions of publishing both sides of the gun issues, with bho coming up, we need to have every outlet we can get our hands on. This is where lessons from the Civil Rights and gay movements come in handy - take it to the streets doesn't always mean literally, but in this case simply being in the papers' faces in as meaningful a way as possible - corporate boards and advertisers in particular.

I have dine my part, several years ago I did not renew my newspaper sub.  I did send the Rocky Mountain Snoooooooze a mocking letter in which I told them a number of things, including the fact that the printed yellow press is sooooo 20th century. Their subscriber base is shrinking rapidly, in fact both Denver dailies have not only reduced their page count, but have shrunk their page size. Both papers support everything I am  against, and are against everything I support, so it did not make sense for me to support them with my money. I say good riiddance to both.
Will I ever write a letter to the editor? No way!
Rights are like muscles, when they are not exercised they atrophy.
