What should I buy for my son in Iraq?
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:53:01 PM »
I am especially interested in hearing from those of you who have gone or whose children have been there.

What should I buy for my son in Iraq that would make his life easier?

He works convoy protection so he is generally away from his FOB.

If you can, ask your son and tell us. Be glad to help.

the best eye protection you can afford. Between the bright sunlight and the dust, eye ware is invaluable.

And from me personally, tell him to stay safe, and alert. God bless

I'll second eye protection, and if allowed the best tactical knife you can afford, a good knife is going to get him through alot of chores over there...

The best I can offer is a big thank you from me along with what ever you send.

hearing protection.( electronic would be best, with alot of batterys)

I've also heard from many that have come back that emergency egress tools are something that is looked for.  Seems alot of GIs have probs getting out of damaged humvs.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

A good flashlight.  Make sure what batteries he has access to before you pick the light.  Something LED tactical is probably the best all around, but others her would know better than me.

Tell him thanks for his service and God bless...
