Why should we be afraid or upset over published CCW lists?

What if you were an abused spouse who had successfully managed to keep your abuser in the dark as to your whereabouts...

We had a similar problem here a few months ago. The new castrati who published our names was all in favor of letting the "sunshine in". At least until some of his own personal info showed up online, as well as pix of his house. His roof needs some work. The list was taken down shortly thereafter.

I'm on my work computer and the newspaper link is blocked so I'm unable to pull up the Ohio CCW article to be able to judge the tone of the article, so I may be heading down a different road than the title of this thread implies.  But, I'll throw this out for discussion anyway.  Why should we be afraid or upset over published CCW lists?
Most states have CCW right to carry laws so why do we have to skulk about under a shield of anonymity when we have every right to carry?  Keeping our names unpublished makes it seems like we have something to hide, that we are ashamed to be gun carrying Americans.  I feel that more information is a good thing.  The more people are made aware of who's carrying and how manyof us there are it will help curb this notion that CCW carriers are just a handful of overzealous kooks.  They will see that we come from all areas of the country and from every facet of our culture.  So, I don't think we should cower like second class citizens every time a CCW list comes out but stand up and be proud of the fact that we carry.  Proud that we carry not only to protect ourselves and our loved ones but to defend anyone whose life may be put in deadly jeapordy.  We are the Warriors of this society, be proud of that!

GREAT POINT WaltGraham. The fact isnt if they could, but if they SHOULD!!!! The simple matter-of-fact is it has yet to bother/effect your life or others you care about Tenbones. There are a lot of variables you have yet to think about..... thief checklist, confiscation, taxes, pole/voter % per area, ect., ect. ! Man there is soooooo no wait SOOOOO!!! many wrongs in it I have not the vocabulary nor spellcheck to explain it!

I Guess the Government schools have been doing their jobs!  "Gee whats the problem with printing every ones names?"  "Gee I have nothing to hide it's o.k. if they print that stuff"  The Schools are making Sheeple out of the masses including gun owners!

I will relay a story told to me by my Grandmother from the old country, That government kept lists of everyone who owned a gun and when the Government went bad the army came into every village and said "Hello you have a shotgun, a rifle, a pistol or all of the above..... SURRENDER THEM NOW! That my friend is one of the problem with lists. & any registration scheme.

what will happen when mayor Bummburg of NYC can get lists of people in VA. or if The antigun groups have the lists do you see any problem with that?  Do you think they guard the names of their contributers from us? you better believe it! any intel in a war is important and this is intel the other side has no right to!

Lets go one further the lists get published.... The AMA was having Doctors ask their patients if the owned guns. The AMA could use these lists in conjunction with doctors filling out a questioner if any of the following names show up in their records......Hmmmm how could they use this for an anti-gun agenda?  Do we want to find out?

I Value my Privacy I obey the law I expect the Government to protect my Privacy. I do not need my name published as it was in the Roanoke Va. Rag.  There is nothing in the Constitution that says the police must protect myself or my property, that is up to me. I have nothing to hide, but unless I give my permission I expect my records to be protected, weather it be CCW Driver's licence, medical or credit. I have an expectation of privacy!

Those of you who think this is not your problem better wake up!

M25, gotcha.  Just curious based on the earlier comment you made.  My bride is also Texan.  (I learned a long
time ago never to say 'former' Texan, even though we've been in TN for over a decade.   ;D)

Personally ,I hope that if any CCW holder that has a gun stolen from them because of this list being published sues the paper out of business along with criminal charges against the editor who made this bone headed decision

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage. Where are we now??????
