Another example (IMO) of where a CCW (and training) would make sense.

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Police are searching for two masked men who beat a store clerk during a robbery Monday night, and it was all caught on tape.

One robber was carrying a two by four board, but the clerk was hit with fists rather than that board.

Investigators say these robbers are extremely violent and dangerous.  In fact the robbery of the Dollar General on South Westover Boulevard was so violent, Investigators spent part of today going store to store, warning clerks and employees about these two robbers, and to be on guard.

Take a look at this surveillance video, two men with white bandanas over their faces and black hoods over their heads walk into the Dollar General on South Westover just after 9 PM. One man grabs the frightened clerk, 51 year old Carolyn Davis.

Dougherty County Police Captain Jimmy Sexton said "Extremely violent, very brutal. No concern about injuring the clerk at all."

The second robber is carrying a two by four board.

Sexton says "He doesn't strike anyone, but he is menacing the folks with it."

The other robber pushes the clerk back to her register.

Sexton says "He attempts to force her to open the safe and the register. She is unable to do that. He actually strikes her in the face."

The robber punched the clerk several times.  Her screams brought the assistant manager, 24 year old Valeria Burnogh, from the back of the store.

Sexton said "Another clerk came from the rear of the store and was able to open the safe and the register."

The robbers took the money and ran into the woods across Westover Boulevard. The clerk was bruised, but not badly injured.

Police want you to take another look at the masked robbers.  One is taller than the other, the way they move, and their clothes.

Sexton said "Notice the one individual with the two by four. His pockets on his pants are a lighter color. " He also had one white glove, and one purple one."

Sexton said "We've been out today talking with other store clerks. We just let them know we are going to be checking the area as much as we possibly can do."

Store employees told us that they were ordered not to speak to the media, but they said while Davis was not badly injured physically, she is very upset mentally, which anyone can understand after she was so violently attacked.

Police say the violence used by these robbers worries them, and they are urgently asking for your help. If you have any information about this robbery after seeing the surveillance video, call the Dougherty County Police at 430-6600, or CRIME STOPPERS at 436-TIPS.

What are criminals thinking when they rob dollar stores anyway? They beat, stab, or shoot someone and what do they get? Chump change. I wish ALL those dumbasses would get shot. A video of 2x4 vs. .44 would make me happy.

Studies have shown that the less" lethal" the weapon the more likely the attacker is to use it to prove his ? her determination. The way the odds run , you'll be threatened with a gun, may or may not get slashed wit a knife, but you WILL be hit with a club or fist. I'm pretty sure it was in a thread here several months ago.

Several years ago a guy went into a local "mom & pop" grocery store here and beat both the husband and his wife to death with a bat. I think there was less than a hundred bucks in the register. They caught the guy and I think he got the death penalty. Now he'll sit in prison for 20 years and then appeal when his time comes.

They still have not caught the 2 perps from the above post. Probably won't either.

I dont think they dumb. You'll be surprised how much cash flows through those "little" stores. If you take a close look at the video, this store has two checkout lines. This alone tells me, they build it for higher then avarage foot trafic. The scumbags dressed up like any average young male now days. What suprised me in this report is that nobody saying when the police got the call, who called and how soon they've responded.
Looks like store manager came over to open the safe and remained pretty calm throughout the whole ordeal.  ???

Yes, they beat the clerk with fists (because he or she couldn't get the safe open) until the manager came over and opened it.
