do you want the average beat cop taking a shot where you, your wife or your children are in the line of fire?


I know I don't want the average beat cop taking that shot.   There was a recent police shooting here, 3 sheriffs fired 38 rounds at distances of 3-7 yards.  The supect was hit twice, his left ankle and hits right hand.   

but hey its yours and your familys life... let them make that shot.

An AR-15 has a longer sight radius than a pistol and is more accurate. I'd rather have them take one shot and hit than fire 38 shots and miss 36 times.

I figured some one was going to mention that... so I left one detail out...

one of the officers had a AR 15.  he fired 17 times,  all of them misses.   Both hits came from one of the deputys. he fire 14 rounds.

So yeah... ARs help...

I can hit a man 9 times out of 10 anywhere from muzzle contact up to 300 meters and I'm not a very good shot. I don't know how it's even possible to fire 17 shots at 3 - 7 yards and miss every time unless he thought it threw patterns like a shotgun. As with any other weapon, training is everything.

In combat situations like that, the adrenaline makes you go damn near stupid..... the hit percentage in almost all police shootings is very very very very low.

a shot gun will have a extremly tight pattern at those ranges.   I agree its all in the training, they can't use the weapons they have now, why should we give them more weapons?

Speaking as a former LEO who has been involved in a firefight I can tell you that it's a helluva lot harder hitting a target that's shooting back.  Your arm tends to turn to jello when you're trying to keep from tucking your head between your legs to kiss your ass goodbye.

which is exactly whats wrong with LEOs today.   They don't care what the public thinks anymore.

This can be extend to most of the goverment officals as well.   They forget who signs thier check.

it won't be long now until a day comes when that pay check bounces and then, if we are lucky the crimals in office will realize that you can't spend money you don't have.
